    2. Use the new sentence structure to ask others and know how to reply accordingly.

     eg.- What do you do when you have free time?

    -          I usually/often watch cartoons.

    3. Have courage to talk with others in English and reasonably arrange their free time.

    1. Answering others’ questions accordingly and exactly.

    2. Applying words and expressions in communication they have learnt in this unit as many as possible.

    Teaching procedure

    Review (10 min)

    1.T shows a non-transparent bag which contains some cards with English words, Chinese words and pictures of activities: freefeelinterestinglisten to musicemail my friendshave a picnic ect.

    2. T asks about some students one by one randomly to pick out a card and show it to the class.

    3. The student who picks out the card with English/Chinese words should translate it into Chinese/English and speak out. Then the class judge whether he/she is right and read the words together.  

    4. T rewards the students who correctly translate with verbal praise.

     

     

    Listening Practice (15 min)

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    1. Before listening, T presents the pictures on the PPT and Ss speaks out the activities in the pictures together. Then, T explains the task.

    2. T plays the listening material twice and Ss volunteer to answer

    3. If there is something difficult in the task, T plays and pauses the material for students to catch the useful information and correctly number the pictures on their textbook.

     

     

    Speaking Task (18 min)

    Group work: interview

    Requirements:

    During the activity, Ss must use the sentence structure What do you do when you have free time?to ask others and reply accordingly.

    Report Sample:

    Alice and Mike usually/ often watch cartoons.

     

    1. T divides Ss into 5 groups.

    2. Each student interviews all his or her partners in the group. 

    3. T walks around to assist Ss, like helping them to organize their language

    4. After the interview, each group sends a representative to report their results briefly, better within one minute.

    5. T comments on Ss reports and Ss vote out the best group according their reports. The worst group must report again in the next class.

     

    Homework (2min)

    Finish the exercise on Page 42.
