Four of the best UK foodie campsites (营地)
Dunstan Hill Campsite, near Alnwick, Northumberland
On this wild coast, foodies should visit Craster, a tiny fishing village northeast of Alnwick, in north Northumberland, England. Here the family has been smoking fish for nearly a century. Take your pick in the shop at the smokehouse on Haven Hill, then head back to the Campsite at Dunstan Hill, where facilities (设施)include hot showers, washing machines and Wi-Fi. With miles of beaches and Alnwick Castle nearby, this is a great place for camping.
Gordale Scar Campsite, North Yorkshire
At the foot of Gordale Scar is this basic site(just a couple of toilets, cold water and a shower). But its inconveniences are more than made up for by its setting. Add in the readily made beef products by Chris Wildman (buy his goods at Town End Farm Shop). Chris's farming and products date back more than five generations.
Lochhouse Farm, near North Berwick, East Lothian
It is beside the river Evan in the South of Scotland. There are beautiful farmhouses set in 9 acres of land and a simple salad of dressed lobster(龙虾)and crab(蟹肉)is the perfect campfire meal. You can buy a lobster from Seacliffe Lobsters outside North Berwick. The boss, Jack, has been catching lobsters and crabs for more than 30 years, exporting much of his catch to Spain.
Nant-y-Big, Llyr Peninsula, Gwynedd
This site, above Porth Ceriad beach, is wonderful. Facilities include hot showers, and barbecues (烧烤)are permitted so this makes a perfect place to enjoy the local lamb. With supplies bought from the Glasfryn Parc Farm Shop near Pwllheli on the way in, we dined on lamb and watched the sun go down over the Irish Sea.

A. At Seacliffe Lobsters. B. At Town End Farm Shop.
C. At the Glasfryn ParcFarm Shop. D. At the smokehouse on Haven Hill.

C. They are really inconvenient. D. They are coastal campsites.

Farmers have to work really hard in the fields. But what will happen if they are sick and not able to work before they can get a harvest (收成)in? Greg Bishop is a farmer who is fighting a serious disease and needs all the help he can get to harvest his crops (庄稼).
But thankfully, other local farmers who live in the loving west Texas community have been lending him a helping hand with his cotton crops while he is in trouble. His crops cover 1,200 acres in Floyd County, but because of his poor health, Bishop can't do hard work in the fields.
Aaron Hendricks, general manager of Floydada Co-Op Gins, has known Bishop for the last 25 years. He has seen 35 to 40 people come in to his office to help Bishop during this difficult time. Hendricks said that the farmers willingly came to help him by preparing machines and watching Bishop's farm to keep track of when the cotton would be ready to be harvested. When harvest time came, his farmer neighbors brought machines worth $ 12 million to Bishop's farm, and they started harvesting his cotton fields by 3 p. m. on the very same day.
People even came from long distances to help Bishop out, who was moved by these acts of kindness from the community. He thanked everyone who helped him out, but nobody felt the need for any thanks as they were already thankful for all Bishop had done for the community and just wanted to help him out.
They haven't stopped there either and have even started a fundraiser(募捐活动)to help Bishop stay in Dallas for the medical treatment he needs. He also needs to travel to Baylor for 100 days for a bone marrow transplant (骨髓移植)and many people in the community say they are ready to see if their bone marrow is a good match.

A. Hard Work Pays B. Never Ever Give Up
C. A Harvest of Friends D. A Man of His Word

On December 17, 1903, two men flew. They were brothers from Day ton, Ohio, and they owned a bicycle shop. They had attended school, but neither had graduated from high school. Their names were Wilbur and Orville Wright. Before they built the plane they studied all that was known about flying. They built a wind tunnel(风洞)and tested many wings. Then they drew plans and built carefully.
When they flew, it was from Kill Devil Hillat Kitty Hawk. That day, Orville won the toss(投) of a coin. He got to fly first. Wilbur ran beside him; the plane lifted a few feet above the sand and stayed in the air for 17 seconds. The brothers flew four flights that day. The longest lasted 59 seconds. The men from the lifeboat station had taken a picture.
The headlines in the morning newspaper in nearby Norfolk told of the flight, but most of the details in the story were wrong. The brothers were worried, but it didn't matter: no one paid attention. And other newspapers didn't carry the story.
Orville and Wilbur went home and set to improve(改进)their plane. In 1904 newspaper reporters came to see for themselves. The Wright brothers checked and tested everything again and again.
When the reporters arrived, the brothers were having mechanical problems with the plane. The reporters stayed two days. The Wright brothers wouldn't fly on those days; the plane wasn't ready. The reporters left. One writer did stay and see them fly. He wrote down the first long article about the Wright brothers' flight in a beekeepers' magazine!
In 1908, in Virginia, Orville showed Americans that people could fly. The crowd of watchers rushed forward shouting as loudly as they could and couldn't believe what they saw.
28. What can we learn about the Wright brothers?
A. They started to build a plane in 1903. B. They studied very well in high school.
C. They invented different kinds of wings. D. They were the owners of a bicycle shop.
29. Why did Orville get to fly the plane first?
A. He won after throwing a coin. B. He was asked to do that by Wilbur.
C. He could run faster than Wilbur did. D. He had more courage than Wilbur did.
30. The newspaper article about their first flight.
A. was widely discussed B. got most details wrong
C. made the Wrights very happy D. was carried by many other newspapers
31. Why did the Wright brothers fail to fly on the first few days after the reporters arrived in 1904?
A. They needed to fix the plane.
B. They didn't get enough support.
C. They were expecting more reporters.
D. They didn't think the weather was suitable enough.

Nine out of ten U. S. high school students aren't getting enough exercise, according to a recent study.
Colorado State University (CSU) professor Kaigang Li researched the fitness and exercise habits of kids in their late teens. Rather than depending on surveys to get data (数据),Li asked the students in the study to wear accelerometers --- devices (设备)that measure the amount(量)) of physical activity ——so that he could know how much daily exercise the teens were getting. According to the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) recommended (推荐)daily amount of exercise for kids to stay healthy, Li found that 91 percent of the 15- to 18-year-olds did not meet the requirements.
Earlier studies have shown that the amount of daily physical activity is likely to go down from childhood to late teenage years. For example, only 0.04 percent of 9-year-olds exercise less than an hour daily, but the number increases to 70 percent for 15-year-olds. And over the age of 15 kids become even less active.
Li found that, after high school, physical activity levels got even lower. Those who did attend college were slightly more active than those who didn't, and of the college students, those living outside schools exercised less than on-campus students.
Kids who don't get enough exercise often face serious health problems later in life. Li had a different set of recommendations for college students and those who don't attend college.
“Colleges should ask students to do more physical activities ——not just to build more centers, but to encourage students with more programs. ” said Li.
For those who don't attend college, Li believes that "government and communities" should know their needs and do more.
Part of the reason kids are not getting enough exercise may be because of the fact that only 29 percent of U. S. high schools have daily gym classes.
32. What do we know about Li's research?
A. It was developed from surveys. B. It asked students to exercise every day.
C. It got data with the help of accelerometers. D. It didn't agree with CDC's recommendations.
33. What do Li's research findings and those of earlier studies have in common?
A. Kids exercise less and less as they get older.
B. Kids around 15 are the most active in exercising.
C. Kids without enough exercise face more health problems.
D. Kids who attend college practice more than those who don't.
34. What measure should colleges take?
A. Working with the local government and communities.
B. Giving students more chances for physical activity.
C. Preventing students from living outside schools.
D. Increasing the number of gyms in the colleges.
35. What's the main idea of this text?
A. Pushing college students to get exercise is not easy.
B. CDC suggests that teens should exercise every day.
C. Teens who exercise daily often live a healthy life.
D. 90% of U. S. teens aren't getting enough exercise. 第二节:(共.5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
