Many large cities in the United States have at area called Chinatwn. Each f them was set up (被建立) by peple wh came frm China. Fr example, Chinatwn in San Francisc, Califrnia, began in the 1840s. The Chinese immigrants(移民) came t America t lk fr gld. Then the area they lived in later became knwn as Chinatwn.
Chinatwns were als set up in cities in the western states f Oregn(俄勒州)and Washingtn D. C. during the middle f the 19th century. Many Chinese immigrants in these areas helped build the first railrad system acrss the United States. Hwever, after the wrk many Chinese mved t the eastern and middle parts f the United States.
Chinatwns can als be fund in cities utside the United States. Fr example, the first Chinese immigrants in Lndn arrived in the late 18th century. They were men wh wrked fr the East India Cmpany. Later, the Chinese immigrants pened small shps and restaurants there.
