2. To grasp the main idea of each paragraph..

3. Ask Students to write an article to introduce their own neighbours, using the context as a model.

Teaching procedures:

Step1. revision.

1.Look at these pictures in part b1,they are from the community centre,can you complete these sentences?

(让学生看图讨论，复习课文，对于能力较强的同学，老师可稍加改变句子，增加描述的语言，指导他们选择短语完成句子。)

 Step2.presentation.

  1.listen and answer.

(1)what are Simon’s neighbours like?

(2)what does Simon’s community centre have?

(3)what do volunteers do at the community centre?

(4)when do they meet?...............

(为学生播放录音，指导他们听录音，阅读对话，进一步理解细节问题，然后回答教师提出的问题,进一步复习课文内容)。

点拨固定句型there is something wrong with sth中，sth是介词with的宾语。

6.Some college students are ready to help. 一些大学生准备去帮助。

短语be ready to do sth.=get ready to do sth.表示“已经做好……的准备”。

I am ready to start. 我已经做好开始的准备了。

The boy is getting ready to find a new job.这个男孩已经做好了找一个新工作的准备了。

拓展get ready to do/get ready for表示“为……做准备”，常用于进行时态。

The students are getting ready for the exam.学生们正在为考试做准备。
