A sense f belnging t a grup f c-wrkers is a better mtivatr fr sme emplyees than mney，accrding t a study by University f lwa researchers. "We find that sme self-managed teams shw increased perfrmance, when their members wrk tgether well," says Greg Stewart, the lead prfessr in the study.
At the beginning，Stewart's grup studied hw managers f self-managed teams decided payment. They studied 587 wrkers in 45 self-managed teams in Iwa. The members were allwed t give suggestins n hw much their teammates shuld be paid fr their wrk. The managers cllected their ideas and then made decisins. The members were asked abut hw much their team spirit attracted them，and managers were asked abut the prductivity f bth individuals and teams.
"In high functining teams the grup members wrk actively with each ther, and they encurage and supprt each ther, " says Stephen Curtright，member f the research grup.
