A few even visit Web sites they should not look at. Bad things can happen if young people spend too much time on the Internet.
In order to help young people use the Internet in a good way, a textbook on good Internet behavior has started to be used in some Shanghai middle schools this term. It uses real examples to teach students all about good ways of using the Internet. It gives useful advice such as it's good to read news or find helpful information to study. Some students also make online friends. But if you are meeting a friend offline, let your parents know.

Dar and I loved to dance. It was probably the first thing we did together, long before we would share our lives.
We grew up in a small Oregon mountain community where dances were held almost every Saturday night. Dar was seventeen, and I was thirteen, when we first danced. He was one of the best dancers on the floor, and so was I. We always jitterbugged. No slow dancing for us; nothing remotely romantic.
Our fathers would stand along the wall and watch. Every once in a while , Dar's dad would smile a little and say, to no one in particular, but my dad could hear, “Boy, my kid can sure dance.” My_dad_never_blinked_an_eye;_he acted like he'd never heard. But a while later he would say, to no one in particular, “That girl of mine can sure dance.”
Our dancing together stopped for five years while Dar was in the South Pacific in World War II. When we met again, Dar was twenty-two, and I was eighteen. We began to date and dance again. We were as good together as we remembered, and this time we added slow dancing.
For us, life is a dance, a movement of rhythms, directions, stumbles, missteps, at times slow and precise, or fast and wild and joyous. We did all the steps.
Two nights before Dar died, the family were with us. We all ate dinner together, and Dar sat with us. He hadn't been able to eat for several days. After dinner, I put on a Nat King Cole tape. Dar took me in his arms, weak as he was, and we danced and smiled. No tears for us. We were doing what we had loved to do for more than fifty years. It was our last dance-forever unforgettable. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Chinese New Year celebrations, also known as the Spring Festival start on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month of the Chinese calendar, and end on the 15th day of the first lunar month in the following year in the Chinese calendar. Chinese New Year's Day's date is calculated according to the Chinese lunar calendar. In 2015 it's Thursday, February 19.
Many people clean their homes to welcome the Spring Festival. They put up the red posters with poetic verses on it to their doors, Chinese New Year pictures on their walls, and decorate their homes with red lanterns. It is also a time to reunite with relatives so many people visit their families at this time of the year.
In the evening of the Spring Festival Eve, many people set off fireworks and firecrackers, hoping to cast away any bad luck and bring forth good luck. Children often receive lucky money. Many people wear new clothes and send Chinese New Year greetings to each other. Various activities such as beating drums and striking gongs, as well as dragon and lion dances, are all part of the Spring Festival festivities.

However, some enterprises such as banks often arrange for workers to be on shift duty. Public transport is available during the Chinese New Year period.

My 16-year-old son, Anton, had gone to the local swimming hole. Most of the kids swim there, and there are plenty of rocks for them to use as safe harbors, so I had no fears for his safety.
Still, the firefighter's first words “You need to come up here to the Stillwater River” made me catch my breath, and his follow-up words gave me relief:“Your son is OK.”
When I got to the river, I immediately saw the fire truck, ambulance and Anton, wrapped with a towel about his shoulders, sitting quietly on a low platform of the fire engine.
I hurried over to him. “You OK?” I asked.
“Yeah,” was all he said. But my eyes begged for an explanation. I didn't get it from my son, however, who_tends_to_play_his_cards_close_to_his_vest.
The story was this: A woman was being swept under water. Hearing the cries, Anton and his friend Tyler, without hesitation, swam out to her, and brought her safely to shore.
In an age in which the word “hero” is broadcast with abandon and seemingly applied to anyone who make it through the day, I realized the real thing in my son. The teens are stubborn and self-centred, but that didn't mean they have no desire to do good.
Still shocked by my son's daring, I drove him home. Along the way, I tried to dig out some more information from him-but he had precious little to say. The only words he said were “What's for supper?”
I spent some time alone that evening, thinking about the tragedy that might have been. The next morning, when Anton got up, I half wanted him to tell me the story. But all he did was toast some bread, pull himself together, and head for the door to start a new day. Watching from the window, I was reminded that still water often runs deep.
12.Why did the mother allow her son to swim there?
A.He was an excellent swimmer.
B.The water of the river is shallow.
C.He was old enough to swim.
D.The rocks can be of help if there's danger.
13.The underlined part “who tends to play his cards close to his vest” probably means ________.
A.Anton is a boy fond of swimming with other kids
B.Anton is unwilling to tell others what he thinks
C.Anton always has a desire to help others
D.Anton seldom changes his mind
14.In the mother's eyes, what her son did was ________.
A.dangerous but interesting
B.meaningful but difficult
C.unexpected and courageous
D.awful and absurd
15.What might be the best title for the passage?
A.My Son, My Hero B.Anton, A Silent Boy
C.A Good Deed D.A Proud Mother

Dear_Lily,

As an old saying goes, “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” When we're well-prepared, a bright future will be ahead of us. My friend Tom signed up for the 800-metre once last year and he got up early to practice running for an hour every day to win the gold medal. With his efforts, he finally achieved his ambition as the champion. So please remember that making full preparations is essential to those who want to achieve success.
