This is the third perid f this unit. As usual,the teacher will check the hmewrk. First,the teacher will ask several pairs f the students t act ut their dialgues. This activity is designed t make Ss t guess what may happen accrding t the stry,meanwhile t develp Ss’ ability f expressing their ideas in English and make them mre curageus t express themselves in public. T see if the Ss have imprved their ability f expressing themselves in English,they will evaluate their perfrmance in acting their dialgue. Later this evaluatin will be put int Ss’ study files.
Fr Part 1 n Page 56,the teacher can ask each student t read several sentences f the passage. In this way,Ss are als given a chance t practise reading English alud. T give Ss a clear impressin upn the Wuyi Muntains,the teacher can present pictures taken there.
There are several language pints frm Page 22 t 23.It is time fr the teacher t deal with them in this perid,fr there is a translatin exercise n Page 57,which we will leave t Ss as tday’s hmewrk. The explanatin f these language pints will give Ss cnfidence in finishing what therwise will be very difficult.
In the previus tw perids,Ss have been given much training in reading,since listening is anther imprtant part f English learning,they shuld be given sme training in listening. Therefre in this perid,they will finish the listening tasks f Part 3 Chatting With a Girl n Page 23.Thrugh listening activity,we can develp Ss’ ability f grasping key wrds and key sentences and get them int the habit f predicting what will happen accrding t the cntext. Ss are given different tasks while listening t the passage fr three different times. This is als crrespndent t the task-based teaching methds.

S1:A tur f the Wuyi Muntains in the nrthwest f Fujian Prvince is well wrth yur time. This place has clean rivers,beautiful frests n hills and peaceful villages. The UN hnred much f Wuyi in 1999.Since then,mre and mre turists have visited it and sme have used air travel t get there.

S2:Yu will be glad t knw,hwever,that it is still a special,quiet place t see. Yunufeng,r Jade Lady Peak,is as beautiful as ever. Jiuquxi,a river in the shape f a snake in the suthwestern part f Wuyi Muntains,is still green and clear as it travels nearly ten kilmeters t the plains belw.
S3:On the river yu can see many high hills r stp t climb a rck staircase t the tp f Tianyufeng. Frm there yu might stand in a light warm rain as yu lk ut ver the beautiful valley belw. Cluds cme and g amng the muntains and yu may imagine yurself in a dream wrld. Smetimes fg finds its way between the muntains and int the valleys. Birds sing cheerfully in the frest,perhaps calling ut names frm lng ag.
S4:In anther part f the river yu can take a bat dwn the rapids but be sure t wear a T-shirt and shrts as yu will get wet.If yu need t wear glasses,tie them t yur head. Dn’t change yur mind abut ging dwn the river! Be brave! Sme guides will help yu n the bat and take care f yu n the river. Yu can watch green water becme white as it begins t mve mre quickly. Yu will prbably feel bth excited and nervus,but enjy the ride. When yur jurney is finished,dn’t frget t pay a visit t the village nearby and try the famus Wuyi rck tea. Then yu can have a rest and think abut the trip.

Wuyishan City in east China’s Fujian Prvince is planning t invest 215 millin yuan (US$26 millin) in building a research and exhibitin center t help prtect and shwcase the wrld heritage Wuyi Muntains.
Wuyi Mutains,listed as the Wrld Cultural and Natural Heritage site,attracts millins f turists every year with its beautiful scenery and cultural relics.
Lcal fficials said the further ptential f Wuyi Mutains,which was listed as ne f China’s tp 10 mst ppular muntains early this year,needed t be cultivated.
“We need t better play the cultural cards t prmte prtectin and turism in the area,”said Zhang Chuanxin,directr f Wuyishan City bureau f culture and sprts.
“The prpsed wrld heritage prtectin and exhibitin center will prvide a stage fr China’s advanced cultures and ther splendid cultures arund the wrld,”he added.
The center will be divided int six parts,including a Wuyishan Wrld Cultural Heritage prtectin and exhibitin park,an exhibitin park f the Wrld Cultural and Natural Heritage sites arund the glbe,a Great Wuyi cultural classics exhibitin park,a park fcusing n Fujian’s cultural classics,a cultural turism service center,and the mnitring and exchange center fr the Wrld Heritage prtectin.
