Lesson 19 The Best Neighbourhood

1.掌握一些与介绍街区建筑有关的词汇:park, shop, bookstore, market, restaurant
2.激发学生兴趣,让学生运用所学知识绘制并介绍自己满意的街区。
结构掌握以下重点句子:
①Both Li Ming and Wang Mei are drawing a map of a perfect neighbourhood.
②I need a big park so I can play basketball!
③Why so many bookstores?Because I buy lots of books.
④I can take Jenny there when she comes for a visit!
Step 1 Lead-in
Lead in by discussing the following questions:
What are Li Ming and Wang Mei doing?
How many bookstores does Wang Mei draw?
Where can Wang Mei’s mother buy vegetables and fruits?
Discuss the questions in groups. The teacher shows some pictures about different buildings to the class.
Ask the students to talk for three minutes. Then let them present the answers in class.
Step 2 Listening
Listen to the tape and answer the questions:
Why does Li Ming draw a park on his map?
What does Wang Mei buy?
Where will Wang Mei take Jenny to have a visit?
Finish the task in class in oral.
Step 3 Reading
Read the dialogue and decide if the statements are true or false.
Li Ming wants to buy drinks in the market.
Wang Mei has bought a lot of books.
Wang Mei wants her mother to buy vegetables and fruits in her neighbourhood.
Finish the task in class in oral.
Step 4 Activities
1.Introduce your own neighbourhood in groups. What is your favourite neighbourhood like?What can you do in your neighbourhood?Make a dialogue between three or four students. Then present it in front of the class.
2.Work with your partner. Write an e-mail to each other to introduce your favourite festival.
Step 5 Write a short note
Suppose you are going to draw a neighbourhood and introduce it. Write a short note. Remember to tell something about your favourite places. Practice for a while. Then let some students read their notes in front of the class.
Step 6 Come to “Let’s Do It!”
Listen to the tape and finish Exercise 1 together. Read the passage again. Finish off Exercise 2.
Work with your partner. Act out the dialogue. Suppose you and your partner are Li Ming and Wang Mei.
Practice for a while. Then ask some students to present their dialogues in front of the class.
Finish off Exercise 3 in “Let’s Do It!”.
