    第一节(共8小题,每小题2分,满分16分)

    阅读下列短文从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D中,选出最佳选项。

    A

An Indian spacecraft’s first attempt to make a soft, controlled landing in the moon’s south polar region has ended in painful silence: Shortly before touchdown, the robotic lander — part of the Chandrayaan-2 mission — fell out of contact with mission control(航天地面指挥中心). The Indian Space Research Organization says that the spacecraft stopped communicating with Earth when it was within 1.3 miles of the lunar surface. “The Vikram descent(下降)was as planned, and normal performance was observed, up to an altitude(高度) of 2.1 kilometers,” said Kailasavadivoo Sivan, ISRO’s chairman, in a statement roughly half an hour after signal loss. “The data is being analyzed.”

A successful landing would have made India just the fourth country to touch down anywhere on the lunar surface, and only the third nation to operate a robotic rover(巡视器) there. Nevertheless, the Chandrayaan-2 mission’s orbiter(人造卫星,航天器) remains safely in lunar(月球的) orbit, with a year-long scientific mission ahead of it. Like any voyage to a world beyond Earth, Vikram’s flight was a risky endeavor, requiring the lander to slow itself down to a near standstill(停止), scan for surface obstacles(障碍物)by itself, and then take steps to avoid them during touchdown(降落). The majority of attempts to land robots on the moon have ended in failure, either during launch or on the way to the surface.

Following its launch on July 22, Chandrayaan-2 spent the last several weeks inching its way to the moon, ultimately entering lunar orbit on August 20. On September 2, Vikram separated from the mission’s orbiter, and the newly freed lander began a series of braking maneuvers(刹车操作)to lower its orbit and ready itself for landing. Had things proceeded without a fault, Vikram and Pragyaan — the small solar-powered rover it carried — would have set down on the moon at a latitude(纬度) of about 70 degrees South, on a highland between Manzinus C and Simpelius N.

This landing site was “somewhere new that we haven’t seen before, so that makes it another area for ground-truthing remote sensing data,” Clive Neal, a lunar geologist, said in an interview before the landing attempt, “It was going to certainly enhance our knowledge of what the moon is like in those areas, so it was going to be another very good place for science and exploration.”

    21. What happened to the lunar lander according to paragraph 1?

    A. It made a soft landing.               B. It got data from the lunar surface.

    C. It lost contact with Earth.             D. It lowered itself at a wrong altitude.

    22. Why was the Vikram’s flight a risky endeavor?

    A. It demanded higher technique.

    B. There were not enough funds to support it.

    C. Few Indian scientists agreed with the voyage.

    D. No country has succeeded in landing robots on the moon.

    23. What can we learn about Vikram from the third paragraph?

    A. It entered lunar orbit four weeks after its launch.

    B. It landed on the moon at an altitude of about 70 degrees South.

    C. It separated from the mission’s orbiter before entering the lunar orbit.

    D. It lowered its orbit by starting the braking maneuvers to prepare for its landing.

    24. What’s Clive Neal’s attitude towards the landing?

    A. Doubtful.         B. Positive.        C. Neutral.       D. Negative.

    B

Slowly but surely, we're moving closer and closer to 5G world. From smart-home security to self-driving cars, all the internet-connected devices in our life will be able to talk to each other at lightning-fast speeds with reduced delay. Objectively speaking, the fastest 4G download speeds in the US top out at an average of 19. 42 Mbps. But by comparison 5G promises gigabit (千兆)speeds.

“5G is one of those heralds (使者),along with artificial intelligence , of this coming data age,” said Steve Koenig, senior director of market research for the Consumer Technology Association. “The self-driving vehicle is a great emblem of this data age,and that is to say,it is a sign of time, because with one single task, driving, you have massive amounts of data coming from the vehicle itself, and a variety of sensors are collecting a lot of information to model its environment as it moves. It's pulling in data from other vehicles about road conditions down the lane. It could be weather information, and also connected infrastructure (基础设施)construction. There5 s lots of data behind that task, which is why we need the high speed.

And virtual reality glasses and headsets haven't yet broken the mainstream, but tech companies are joyfully betting that these devices will eventually replace our smartphones. With 5G, that could actually happen. This is notable because companies such as Apple are reportedly developing AR glasses to assist 一 or even replace — smartphones.

Ericsson stated at February's Mobile World Congress how smart glasses could become faster and lighter with a 5G connection, because instead of being weighed down with components, the glasses could rely on hardware for processing power.

But don't get too excited. There s still a lot of work to be done in the meantime, including

various trials to make sure the radios play nicely with hardware and infrastructure construction so 5G isn't concentrated only in big cities.

25.What is the first paragraph mainly about?

    A. A right security of 5G.            B. The super speed of 5G.

    C. A potential dream of 5G.          D. The present world of 5G.

    26. Which of the following can replace the underlined word "emblem" in Paragraph 2?

    A. exhibition     B. explanation         C. sponsor      D. symbol

    27. What do some tech companies expect of virtual reality glasses?

    A. They will be heavier than present ones.

    B. They will process power on their own.

    C. They will serve people instead of smartphones.

    D. They will bring a big fortune to tech companies.

28.What will the author tell us in the next paragraph?

    A. How to fully expand 5G coverage.      B. How to effectively reduce 5G trials.

    C. How to nicely operate 5G hardware.    D. How to widely construct 5G big cities.

    第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

    根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选 项。

Everyone is aware that taking good care of our bodies can prevent many medical problems from occurring later. However, we often have less awareness of preventative actions we should take to help with mental health problems. While our mental health may be fine right now, many of us will struggle at some point.  29              It's impossible to get through life without challenges, but our mental health prevention habits can help us get through difficult times.  30

Keep active. The more active you physically, mentally and socially are, the higher the level of your mental wellness is likely to be. So go for walks and learn something new. There are many other ways to be active.   31

Be connected. Regular involvement in social activities with supportive friends and family improves your ability to handle disappointments, and everything else life throws at you.    32   But you can be involved in any manner; even volunteering for an organization can help you be more social.

33  The nature of these activities varies widely from person to person. The key is to identify what gives your life meaning. Volunteering, coaching, teaching, etc. all can contribute to increasing your sense of confidence and satisfaction with life. Many activities can address more than one. The key is to make a plan and stick with it. If you are already struggling, begin to practice these ways to help your recovery.

    A. Here are three practical steps.

    B. However, good mental health is important.

    C. Stresses, disappointments and disasters happen.

    D. Overcome life's challenges before they happen.

    E. Be committed to activities that give life meaning.

    F. The key is to find what keeps you motivated and interested.

    G. This can be difficult when you move to a new town or as you get older.

    听力录音原文

    ●Text 1

M: Jane, do you have a map of Manchester? I want to find a good place to eat.

W: Why not try Chinatown? There are plenty of good Chinese restaurants there, and it’s near here.

    ●Text 2

M: Let’s do something different for vacation this year. Oh, let’s go to Colorado. I want to learn to snowboard.

W: Oh, Paul. You know I don’t like cold weather. Can’t we go someplace warm, like the beach?

    ●Text 3

W: This job is for three days a week: Monday, Friday, and Saturday. Are you Okay with that?

M: Mmm…I was hoping to have Saturday free. But I need the job, so…can you tell me what exactly I will do?

    ●Text 4

M: Do you know if John’s coming home for dinner?

W: He’ll be late. He said not to wait for him.

    ●Text 5

W: I’m really tired from packing all these boxes for three hours. It’s about time to call it a day.

M: I know. Maybe we could do it first thing tomorrow morning.

W: Why not? These orders are not urgent.

    ●Text 6

    M: Lisa? Hi!

    W: Hi, Ned.

M: Don’t you usually drive to work?

W: Usually, but not in bad weather.

    M: Why is that?

W: The traffic gets a lot worse when it rains or snows.

M: I always take the train. It’s a lot faster for me than driving.

W: It’s faster for me, too, but the time isn’t always convenient.

M: Yeah, but think of all the things you can do on the train — read a book or the newspaper…

W: Or answer my email…No thanks! My workday is long enough already.

    ●Text 7

W: I think the car we saw yesterday would be a good deal. What do you think?

M: Yes, but I think you should ask someone to take a look at it just to be sure.

W: My friend Jack knows cars, and he helped me do the check this morning.

M: It was smart of you to think ahead. Have you and the salesman agreed on a price?

W: Yes, he finally agreed to accept the discounted price I asked.

M: Then have you thought about how to pay?

W: Well, I’ve saved up enough money to pay cash for this car.

M: Good. Let me go with you to make the payment and drive the car home for you.

W: Thank you. That would make it much easier for me.

M: You’re welcome. Let’s go take care of that right now.

    ●Text 8

M: Being away from home for college can be stressful. Besides all the pressures of study, there’s the pressure on your pocket. Today, let’s go to a university to find out. Excuse me. Can I ask you a few questions?

    W: Well, Okay.

M: How do you find the cost of living in this city?

W: Everything is expensive, including clothing, housing, and traveling.

M: So, what do you spend most on?

W: Transport, I think. For food, if I cook myself, it’s not expensive at all. For clothing, I bring my clothes here from my home country, where they’re nice and cheap. But every week, I have to spend more than 100 pounds on the trains.

M: Then what’s the social life like?

W: I’m a very social person. I love hanging out with my friends and meeting new people. Thankfully, I don’t drink nor smoke, so the only expense is maybe tickets to the cinemas, clubs, and so on.

    ●Text 9

W: Can you fix a time for the next meeting, Alex? How about June 12th? That’s after the trade exhibition…

M: I thought something was happening on that day, Rebecca.

W: Oh, yes. You’re right. The people from Head Office are coming.

M: What time does their plane arrive? Can we have the meeting in the morning?

W: No, it’s all arranged. I’m meeting them at half past ten, so I won’t be available at all that day.

M: Well, let’s have the meeting earlier in June, then. The trade exhibition finishes on the third, doesn’t it?

W: Yes, but we need John’s sales report for the meeting. How’s it going?

M: I’m afraid John hasn’t started yet. The figures won’t be in place till next week.

W: Will it be ready early in June?

M: Well, not really. He told me that he will finish them by June 10th.

W: So, we’re looking at the week starting the 17th. How about two o’clock on that day?

M: I think that’s Okay. Let’s meet here again then.

    ●Text 10

W: Hello, everyone. In today’s program, I’d like to share a true story of mine. One day, my friends and I had just finished lunch at a hotel when it started to rain heavily. When it became lighter, I decided to brave the rain to get my car and go home. It was parked three blocks away. My friends argued I shouldn’t go because at that time, I was due to give birth in three months. I promised I’d be very careful. One of them wanted to come with me, but I insisted she stay with another friend who needed help with her baby. When I walked to the first crossroads, a taxi stopped and a passenger came out with an umbrella. Before I knew what was happening, he walked right beside me and told me he would walk with me to where I would go. I refused, but he insisted. During our walk, he kept telling me to walk slowly. When we got to the car park, I thanked him, and we parted ways. I did not get his name and may not even recognize him now. Did he purposely stop for me? I’ll never know.
