In Octber 1957, peple listening t radis arund the wrld heard smething n ne had ever heard befre. Fr three weeks, there was just 'Beep, beep, beep.' Abut ne beep a secnd. Millins f peple sat rund their radis just listening fr this beep. The beep itself was nt all that amazing. The amazing thing was the place where it came frm—space. The beep came frm the wrld's first man-made satellite, Sputnik 1.
Sputnik 1 was launched by the Sviet Unin n 4 Octber 1957. It was rund, made f metal, and mre than tw times larger than a basketball. It weighed abut 84 kilgrams, travelled at 29,000 kilmetres an hur, and tk 96.2 minutes t circle Earth. Sputnik 1 stpped beeping when its radi battery died n 26 Octber, and it burnt up when it fell back t Earth n 4 January 1958.

This satellite wrks with a highly cmplicated system, like the BDS (BeiDu Navigatin Satellite System), which can tell us where ur car r even ur mbile phne is.It seems that there is n end t the pssible uses f satellites. The nly real limit t their use is ur wn imaginatin.
