Zhang Xue, a self-taught mtrcycle designer in China, is mre than a dream chaser—he is a guardian f determinatin and a pineer breaking the bundaries between rdinariness and extrardinary. Brn in a remte muntain village in Hunan Prvince, he grew up watching his father repair ld mtrcycles, which had planted a seed f passin in his heart befre he encuntered cuntless hardships. It was this deep passin that drve him t keep mving frward, never lsing faith in his dream.
At the age f 14, pverty frced him t drp ut f schl, and he tk up a jb as a mtrcycle repair apprentice t make a living fr his family with perseverance. Unlike ther apprentices wh nly fcused n earning a salary, Zhang Xue treated every brken part as a lessn, spending his nights studying mechanical engineering bks and practicing assembling engines until his hands were cvered with calluses.
When he first prpsed designing his wn mtrcycle, he was met with laughter and dubt—many thught a rural by with n frmal educatin culd never cmpete with well-funded freign brands. Hwever, such skepticism nly strengthened his determinatin. It was seven years that he spent cllecting spare parts, imprving his designs repeatedly, and he even sld his nly huse, funded by his savings and brrwed mney, t supprt his prject. His persistence was nt blind stubbrnness, but a firm belief that Chinese craftsmanship culd shine in the wrld f high-perfrmance mtrcycles.
In 2026, his independently designed mtrcycle, named “Xuefeng”(Snw Peak), made its debut at an internatinal mtrcycle shw, impressed by experts and audiences alike with its excellent perfrmance and unique Chinese design elements. This breakthrugh nt nly realized his lifelng dream but the lng-term mnply f Eurpean and Japanese brands, prving that passin and persistence can turn an rdinary persn int a trailblazer.
Zhang Xue’s stry is nt just abut persnal success; it cnveys a deeper message: greatness never cmes frm privilege, but frm the curage t hld n t ne’s lve and the strng will t keep imprving. It reminds every yung persn that as lng as we have faith in urselves and refuse t give up in the face f adversity, we can create value that transcends ur wn limits. Tday, many yung engineers are inspired by his stry, devting themselves t innvating and prmting Chinese manufacturing t a higher level.
What first inspired Zhang Xue’s passin fr mtrcycles?
Wrking as a repair apprentice at 14.
Watching his father repair ld mtrcycles as a child.
Reading mechanical engineering bks at night.
Winning an award at an internatinal mtrcycle shw.
Why did peple laugh at Zhang Xue when he first prpsed designing his wn mtrcycle?
He had n experience in mtrcycle repair.
He was t yung t start such a prject.
He lacked frmal educatin and financial resurces.
His design was cnsidered t traditinal.

A new study suggests that increasing daily step cunts may help peple maintain weight lss in the lng term and a gal t sht fr may be arund 8,500 steps a day. The research, published in the Internatinal Jurnal f Envirnmental Research and Public Health and presented last week at the Eurpean Obesity Cnference, analyzed data frm 18 previus studies lking at weight lss and physical activity.
Researchers fund that walking mre was nt strngly linked t lsing additinal weight during active weight lss prgrams. Hwever, peple wh cntinued taking mre steps each day were mre likely t keep the weight ff ver time.
Over an average fllw-up perid f abut 1.5 years, researchers fund participants maintained rughly 1% f weight lss fr every additinal 1,000 steps they walked daily, with the average participant starting at abut 7,400 steps per day at baseline.
The study nted that an average f 8,500 daily steps appeared t help participants maintain weight lss the lngest, thugh researchers stressed that it is nt a strict target r prescriptin (处方) fr everyne. The increased activity happened as part f structured lifestyle prgrams that als included diet changes and behaviral cunseling. “This was a lifestyle mdificatin prgram, and it really is a multifactrial apprach when it cmes t weight lss. S these individuals gt diet and behaviral cunseling in additin t really mving mre. And s yu really need all f that,” ABC News medical
cntributr Dr. Tara Narula said n “Gd Mrning America” Mnday.
Narula nted that researchers described the findings as “hypthesis generating” and said mre research is needed. “The researchers say, lk, this is really hypthesis generating, it shuld push us t d mre research,” she explained. “It is nt a prescriptin that everyne shuld g ut and nw d 8,500 steps. But it is helpful infrmatin.”
Researchers cncluded that calrie restrictin was likely mre impactful during the weight lss phase, while higher levels f physical activity were mre clsely tied t lng-term weight lss maintenance. The study als had several limitatins. The analysis nly included adults wh were verweight r bese and relied n pled ppulatin data, meaning the findings shw crrelatin rather than direct cause and effect.
“Certainly, if yu’re planning t d a weight lss prgram, talk t yur dctr abut what is right fr yu in terms f yur mvement and gals verall,” Narula said. “And healthy habits build n each ther,” she cntinued. “The mre yu lse weight, the mre yu want t exercise, yu feel better. But it really is helpful t knw that just that little bit f increase might be all yu need.”
What d we knw abut the participants in the study?
They nly increased their step cunts withut any diet changes.
They were all adults with nrmal weight.
They were verweight r bese adults.
They fllwed the 8,500-step prescriptin strictly.
What can be inferred abut the rle f walking in weight management accrding t the study?
Walking helps mre with maintaining weight lss than with initial weight lss.
Walking is mre effective fr lsing weight than diet changes.
Walking alne can replace calrie restrictin in any weight lss prgram.
Walking nly wrks fr peple wh are nt verweight.
What des Dr. Tara Narula mean when she says the findings are “hypthesis generating” (paragraph 6)?
The findings are final and shuld be fllwed as a prescriptin.
The findings are meant t encurage further research.
The findings are nt useful fr rdinary peple.
The findings nly apply t a small grup f peple.
What is the authr’s attitude tward the study findings?
Enthusiastic and strngly recmmending 8,500 steps fr everyne.
Critical and dismissive f the research methds.
Cautius and bjective, nting bth usefulness and limitatins.
Skeptical abut any link between walking and weight management.

Acupuncture, a Chinese practice thught t be arund 3,000 years ld, invlves sticking needles int certain pints n the bdy in rder t prmte the prper flw f qi, the bdy’s vital energy. Althugh lng ph-phed by Western medicine, its ppularity cntinues t rise.
Mdels and influencers tut (宣扬) its anti-ageing effects, and athletes including Serena Williams, a frmer tennis pr, and Tm Brady, a retired American ftball player, claim the needles have helped them with muscle recvery. Tday acupuncture is used t alleviate ailments ranging frm anxiety t asthma (哮喘). But des it d any gd?
On sme frnts, the evidence in favur is strng. In 2018 a study in the Jurnal f Pain analysed the results f 39 randmised trials n 20,827 patients with shulder pain, chrnic muscle pain and headaches . All the patients had undergne either traditinal acupuncture, sham acupuncture (a range f placeb (安慰剂) cntrls including the shallw insertin f needles) r n acupuncture at all. When patients assessed their symptms mre than fur weeks after initial treatment, acupuncture users reprted less pain than thse in the ther grups. The benefits had nt faded by much a year later.
Other studies cnducted since then have supprted these findings. But hw might acupuncture achieve these results? Helene Langevin, retired directr f the Natinal Centre fr Cmplementary and Integrative Health at America’s Natinal Institutes f Health (NIH), has a thery. Her research suggests the needles twist strands f cnnective tissue knwn as fascia (结缔组织束), which in turn pull n nerve endings in a way that might reduce pain.
Sme f the psitive effects, hwever, might be due t the brain's astnishing pwer t reduce pain when it believes a genuine interventin is being cnducted. The mre serius the apparent interventin, the greater this placeb respnse can be. A paper published in JAMA Internal Medicine in 2020, fr example, fund n significant difference in pain relief between true and sham acupuncture. Fr Edzard
Ernst, a prfessr at the University f Exeter wh specialises in the study f cmplementary and alternative medicine, “it is wrth remembering that we dn’t need a placeb t generate placeb effects—any therapy cmes autmatically with a placeb effect.” Fr nw, it is hard t identify hw much f the benefit f acupuncture may arise in this way.
The balance f evidence means that acupuncture remains a reasnable interventin fr chrnic pain, particularly because it has far fewer side-effects than mst drugs. But fr everything else, the effects are hard t figure ut.
What des the underlined wrd “ph-phed” in paragraph 1 mst likely mean?
      highly praisedB. widely accepted
      C. dismissed r rejectedD. carefully studied
Why des the authr mentin Serena Williams and Tm Brady in paragraph 2?
T prve that acupuncture can cure serius diseases.
T shw that famus athletes believe acupuncture helps with muscle recvery.
T argue that nly prfessinal athletes shuld use acupuncture.
T cmpare the effects f acupuncture n different sprts.
What can be inferred frm the last paragraph abut acupuncture?
It may be a gd chice fr chrnic pain because it has few side effects.
It is nt recmmended fr chrnic pain due t weak evidence.
It has been prven effective fr all kinds f diseases.
It shuld replace drugs cmpletely in pain management.
Which f the fllwing is the best title fr the passage?
Acupuncture: A Magic Cure fr All Ailments
      The Histry f Chinese Acupuncture
      Hw t Perfrm Acupuncture Safely
      Des Acupuncture Really Wrk?
Have yu ever been excited abut smething until smene tld yu that yu “MUST” d it? Suddenly, it desn’t seem s appealing. Psychlgists call this little flash f resistance “reactance.” 36 Put anther way, it’s ur desire t d exactly the ppsite f what we’re being frced t d.
The thery f psychlgical reactance was first prpsed in 1966. It suggests that when peple feel smene is taking away their freedm f chice, they are mtivated t regain that freedm.
37 We’ve all experienced this. Signs that say “KEEP OUT” r “DO NOT TOUCH” ften tempt peple t d exactly what’s frbidden.
If a cmmand threatens ur freedm, we resist. This reactance can even make the restricted ptin mre appealing. 38 Frbid yur teen frm seeing a certain friend, and that friend becmes even mre imprtant t them. A classic study als shwed that children wanted a frbidden ty even mre. The “grass” literally lked greener n the side where they culd nt play.
S, knwing that reactance is a persuasin killer, what can we d? Respect peple’s freedm t chse. 39 Instead, skilled persuaders find ways t give the ther persn a sense f cntrl. Fr example, adding a phrase like “it’s up t yu” makes peple less likely t resist.
Anther way is t ffer chices instead f rders. 40 If yu say t a tddler, “Put yur cat n nw!” yu might get a blw-up. But if yu ask, “D yu want the red r blue cat?” the child happily puts ne n. The same idea wrks with adults. When peple feel in cntrl, reactance fades, and real cmmunicatin begins.
Psychlgical reactance is a natural human respnse. The gd news is that by understanding it, yu can adapt yur apprach. Give ptins, nt rders. Suggest, dn’t shve.
Parents f teenagers knw this all t well.
If yu want t cnvince smene, the wrst apprach is t make them feel they have n chice.
This technique is simple but effective.
Simply, psychlgical reactance is a strng reactin we have when we feel smene is threatening ur freedm t chse.
Peple ften feel angry when they are frced t d smething.
They ften resist r d the ppsite f what thers demand.
Smetimes, giving peple mre time t think can help reduce reactance.

Hw was it pssible, I asked myself, t walk fr an hur thrugh the wds and see nthing 43 f nte? I wh cannt see find hundreds f things t interest me thrugh mere 44 .
At times my heart cries ut with 45 t see all these things. If I can get s much pleasure frm mere tuch, hw much mre beauty must be 46 by sight. And I have imagined what I shuld mst like t see if I were given the use f my eyes, say fr just three days.
On the first day, I shuld want t see the peple whse kindness and 47 have made my life wrth living. I d nt knw what it is t see int the heart f a friend thrugh that “windw f the sul”, the eye. I can nly “see” thrugh my fingertips the 48 f a face. I can detect laughter, srrw, and many ther 49 emtins.
On my secnd day, I shuld like t see the parade f man’s prgress, and I shuld g t the museums. I shuld try t 50 int the sul f man thrugh his art. The evening f my secnd day I shuld 51 at a theatre r at the mvies.
The fllwing mrning, I shuld again greet the dawn, 52 t discver new delights, new revelatins f beauty.
I wh am blind can give ne 53 t thse wh see: Use yur eyes as if tmrrw yu wuld be stricken blind. Make the mst f every sense; 54 all the aspects f pleasure and beauty, which the wrld reveals t yu. But f all the senses, I am sure that sight must be the mst 55 .

My wife and I had recently mved int ur new hme. T celebrate, we decided t hst a small gathering fr family and friends n a warm summer evening. My wife spent the whle afternn preparing snacks and drinks, while I was respnsible fr getting the backyard in rder. There was plenty f space fr the kids t run arund and play. Everything seemed perfect.
There was just ne thing I hadn’t cunted n. My brther Mark brught his dg, Rcky—a 50-pund ball f energy. Thugh friendly, Rcky had a habit f jumping n peple. I wrried he might knck ver my niece’s yung children and my baby granddaughter. S when Mark arrived, I pulled him aside and asked him t keep Rcky utside. Mark’s smile faded a little, but he agreed.
Fr a while, things went smthly. Rcky ran back and frth in the yard, happily chasing butterflies and entertaining the kids, while Mark std by the fence, watching his dg with a tired expressin I hadn’t nticed befre. I was t busy greeting guests and enjying the party t think much abut it.
Then, after supper, dark cluds rlled in and rain began t fall. Everyne rushed inside. Nw came the awkward mment. I didn’t want Rcky running arund in my new huse, but Mark didn’t want t drive hme with a wet dg. The silence between us grew heavy. Finally, Mark grabbed Rcky’s leash, muttered a quick gdbye, and left. I didn’t think much f it—he’d get ver it, I tld myself.
A week passed. Then anther. Mark didn’t call. He didn’t reply t my cheerful texts. I texted him again, inviting him t cme ver. His reply came as a shck: “Nt a chance.”
Tw mnths went by. My wife encuraged me t reach ut again, but I held back, insisting he shuld be the ne t call first. But as the days dragged n, my cnscience began t weigh heavily n me. I finally put myself in his shes. Mark had been ging thrugh a difficult time—his wife had passed away just a few mnths earlier, and he was facing health issues f his wn. Rcky wasn’t just a pet t him; Rcky was his cnstant cmpanin, the ne wh kept him ging. Hw culd I have been s blind?

      A 篇
      B
第一段末尾提到 Anxiety 想要保护 Riley 免受失败和尴尬的伤害,是出于善意的,但她的努力走得太远(“Anxiety quickly becmes the mst pwerful—she wants t prtect Riley frm failure, but her effrts g t far.”),说明“她本意是好的,但可能会变得过于控制”,因此 C 项符合原文意思。
根据第一段中“he grew up watching his father repair ld mtrcycles, which had planted a seed f passin in his heart”可知,张雪对摩托车的热情最早源于童年时看父亲修理旧摩托车。
根据第三段中“many thught a rural by with n frmal educatin culd never cmpete with well-funded freign brands”可知,人们嘲笑他主要是因为他是农村孩子、没有正规教育,且缺乏资金与外国品牌竞争。
      答案:A
根据第七段第二句:“The analysis nly included adults wh were verweight r bese”可知,研究对象为超重或肥胖的成年人。选项 A(只增加步数,无饮食改变)与第五段提到的“diet changes and behaviral cunseling”不符;选项 B(正常体重)错误;选项 D(严格遵守 8500 步处方)与第四段“nt a strict target r prescriptin”矛盾。
      答案:A
根据第二段和最后一段:第二段指出走路多与减重期间的额外减重关系不强烈,但有助于长期维持;最后一段明确说“calrie restrictin was likely mre impactful during the weight lss phase, while higher levels f physical activity were mre clsely tied t lng-term weight lss maintenance”。
第六段中 Narula 解释:“the researchers say lk, this is really hypthesis generating, it shuld push us t d mre research”,说明这一说法意味着研究结果不是最终结论,而是鼓励更多研究。A(最终结论且应作为处方)与原文“nt a strict target r prescriptin”矛盾;C(对普通人无用)错误;D(只适用于小群体)未提及。
第一段说“Althugh lng ph-phed by Western medicine, its ppularity cntinues t rise.”
      答案:A
最后一段指出:“acupuncture remains a reasnable interventin fr chrnic pain, particularly because it has far fewer side-effects than mst drugs.”
      A

      terrible(可怕的)、difficult(困难的)、cmmn(普通的)相反。
      requiring

      ②语言:语法和拼写错误极多,严重影响阅读理解。③篇章:无连贯性,信息无法传达。零分 0 分空白;或所写内容与题目要求完全无关;或仅抄写原文内容而无有效续写。
      核心评分要点
      原文伏笔呼应(6 分)
      原文中以下信息应引起续写的高度关注,并在续写中予以回应:
      ·Mark 表情中的“tired expressin”提示其身心状态需要关怀;
      ·“wife had passed away a few mnths earlier”和“health issues”是理解 Mark 情绪的关键背景;
·“Rcky was his cnstant cmpanin, the ne wh kept him ging”是矛盾的深层原因——Mark在原文最后一句话中明确指出,Rcky 不仅是一条狗,更是陪伴他度过艰难的“支柱”,而非单纯受限于天气因素。
      写作指导:高考阅卷近年来反复强调,很多学生语言丰富但情节空洞——感官描写用力过多,有效的故事推进太少。本题中,如果通篇堆砌心理描写(如大量描写“我有多难过”),却没有通过情节推进来解决矛盾(如 Mark 最终是否接受道歉、两人的关系有无具体修复),会被降档处理。
      主题升华(5 分)
      本题的深层主题是:真正的家人关系不是谁对谁错,而是愿意在对方脆弱时主动迈出第一步。结尾宜自然展现“行动胜过道理”“理解与宽容”。
      衔接与连贯(5 分)
      ·第一段须承接段首句“The next mrning, I picked up the phne...”展开打电话的过程;
      ·两段之间形成自然的时间与行为递进——从电话沟通到实际登门;
      ·段内使用恰当的衔接词(如 Hwever,Then,As,When,With...),确保故事连贯。
      语言表达(9 分)
      ·时态准确统一(一般过去时为主);
      ·词汇丰富多样(避免通篇 happy, sad, gd, bad 等基础词汇);
      ·句式有变化:长短句结合,适当使用非谓语结构、定语从句等;
      ·高分范文通常每段包含 2—3 个高质量的表达(如 a heavy weight settled n my chest,a wave f guilt washed ver me,my heart punded as... 等)。
