After a recent negative car rental experience, I fund myself ging dwn a familiar rabbit hle, scrlling (滚屏) thrugh nline reviews f the cmpany. The experience was ver, yet I kept reading cmplaint after cmplaint frm strangers. But I’m nt the nly ne wh des this. Why d we lk up reviews fr a htel we’ve already stayed at, a mvie we’ve watched, r even a dctr we’ve visited? If we’re n lnger gathering infrmatin t guide ur decisin-making, what are we lking fr? Peple ften experience inner cnflict after making a decisin. This can be smething small, like rdering fd r buying a bk, r far mre significant chices, like picking a career, r chsing a life partner. It is knwn as pst-decisin dissnance (不协调) — the psychlgical discmfrt we feel after chsing between multiple ptins.
Once a decisin is made, the alternatives dn’t simply disappear. Instead, they remain in ur minds, alng with the unsettling thught that anther ptin might have been better. That discmfrt is what sends us searching. In fact, this feeling isn’t limited t purchases. It can arise anytime we cmmit t ne path and clse ff thers.
After my disappinting car rental experience, I wasn’t lking fr infrmatin t help me decide. That mment had passed. Instead, I simply wanted t understand what had already happened, and cnvince myself I hadn’t made a flish decisin. Reading negative reviews frm thers with similar experiences helped shift my versin f the stry: maybe the prblem wasn’t just me. Maybe the rental cmpany was truly awful. Once we’ve had an experience, gd r bad, we’re n lnger gathering infrmatin. We’re trying t find peace within urselves. It’s nt abut reviews but abut gaining a sense f identity, and emtinal clsure fr what we’ve been thrugh.

6. What makes peple seek relevant cmments after making a decisin?
A.The fear f missing better alternatives.
B.The curisity abut thers’ feelings.
C.The desire t discver mre pssibilities.
D.The need t learn frm past experiences.
7. What des the authr think f pst-experience review reading?

Envirnmental impact data n fd prducts is pening up new pssibilities fr this research, and labels that give fds a single verall grade (such as A-E) culd help make these cmparisns easier fr cnsumers, thus allwing peple t make sustainable fd chices.”
