The pprtunity came kncking n his dr when Ghsh retired and decided t return t his village. When Ghsh returned hme, he realised that his village and the nearby villages still did nt have any schls. He reached ut t the State Gvernment with the request f pening a junir high schl in the village. Ghsh secured the apprvals.
Ghsh faced a challenge when the schl needed permanent teachers appinted. “The schl currently has fur temprary teachers wh keep changing with a student strength f 140,” he says, adding that the schl started with a mere 40 students and nw the number has increased. The schl gets an annual grant (拨款) f Rs 25,000. “It is a small amunt — enugh t take care f the upkeep f the schl, but nt enugh t pay any teachers.”
The therwise lively man’s spirit seemed t be brken when he spke abut the future. “The future is quite uncertain if yu ask me. I have n idea hw lng I can keep running the schl this way.” But Ghsh remarks his nly mtivatin t wrk withut pay in the schl is its students. “The ray f hpe fr a better future in the eyes f the children is all the salary I need t keep teaching.”

A quantum battery (量子电池) has been built within a quantum cmputer, marking a significant step tward determining if it culd ne day pwer future quantum technlgies.
Cnventinal batteries stre energy thrugh chemical reactins. Quantum batteries, hwever, rely n tiny particles called quantum bits (qubits, 量子比特). Instead f chemicals, these batteries stre energy by fcusing n the varius ways these particles can stay in at the same time — a phenmenn called superpsitin (叠加). This unique prcess may lead t better battery perfrmance.
Sme studies have shwn that using these special features can result in faster charging, but the practicality f such quantum batteries remains an pen questin.
“Many future quantum technlgies will need their wn versins f batteries,” says Dian Tan, a researcher in Hefei, China. “While we have made great prgress in building quantum cmputers, the way these systems stre energy has nt been fully explred.”
Tan and his team built a prttype using 12 supercnducting qubits arranged in a netwrk, where energy was stred in the cllective quantum state f the system. The researchers tested tw different charging methds. One wrked like a cnventinal battery, while the secnd ne tk advantage f the interactins between qubits. The team fund that the secnd methd allwed the battery t charge mre efficiently, gaining mre pwer in less time. This suggests that these unique interactins culd be the key t better battery perfrmance in the quantum wrld.
Despite these prmising lab results, translating them int practical advantages is challenging. “Cmparing cnventinal batteries with quantum nes is difficult,” says Dminik Safranek at Charles University in the Czech Republic. In his view, the path frm labratry breakthrughs t everyday cnsumer prducts remains unclear.
Tan sees his battery as a perfect match fr future quantum cmputers. Nw, the researchers want t cmbine their battery with a quantum heat engine. This device wuld prduce energy t be stred in the battery, creating a self-sustaining system within a quantum cmputer.
46.Hw d quantum batteries stre energy differently frm cnventinal nes?
A.By using different particle states.B.By imprving chemical reactins.
C.By adding mre strage units.D.By reducing the battery size.
47.Why did Tan’s team test tw different charging methds?
A.T make the cnventinal battery system efficient.
B.T find the best state fr the quantum batteries.
C.T simplify the cnventinal charging prcess.
D.T explre the advantage f quantum interactins.
48.What is Dminik Safranek’s view n quantum batteries?
A.Their value remains t be prven.B.Their perfrmance is difficult t judge.
C.Their practical applicatin is challenging.D.Their lab result seems unsuccessful.
      49.What will Tan’s team prbably d next?
A.Put the battery int a quantum cmputer.B.Build a new classical heat engine.
C.Make their charging methds better.D.Link the battery t a heat engine.
50.What is the main idea f the text?
A.The status and future f cnventinal batteries.
B.The ptential and challenges f quantum batteries.
C.The chemical principles behind cnventinal strage.
D.The guaranteed success f fast quantum charging.

The technlgy signals emerging frm the 2026 Natinal Tw Sessins have sparked intense discussin, nt nly abut ecnmic grwth but als abut the deeper implicatins fr sciety, educatin, and glbal cperatin. Amng the mst debated tpics is the “AI+” initiative, which aims t embed artificial intelligence acrss industries. Prpnents argue that this strategy is essential fr maintaining cmpetitiveness in a rapidly changing glbal landscape. They pint t examples like DeepSeek, the Chinese large language mdel that garnered internatinal attentin in late 2025, as evidence that China’s AI capabilities have reached a wrld-class level. By integrating AI int manufacturing, healthcare, and even agriculture, they believe the cuntry can achieve unprecedented gains in prductivity and innvatin.
Hwever, the push fr rapid technlgical advancement als raises imprtant questins. Sme experts warn that the transitin culd be disruptive. Wrkers in industries that may be autmated r transfrmed by AI face uncertainty abut their future rles. The gvernment has acknwledged this challenge, emphasizing the need fr retraining prgrams and scial safety nets t ensure that the benefits f technlgical prgress are bradly shared. Additinally, the plan’s fcus n cutting-edge fields like quantum cmputing and 6G requires a highly skilled wrkfrce, placing pressure n the educatin system t adapt quickly. Universities are being called upn t refrm curricula, strengthen ties with industry, and prduce graduates equipped nt just with technical knwledge but with creativity and ethical awareness.
On the internatinal stage, China’s technlgical push has been met with a mix f admiratin and cautin. While cuntries like Germany and France have expressed interest in cllabrative research in fields such as clean energy and bitechnlgy, there are als cncerns abut cmpetitin and the ptential fragmentatin f glbal tech standards. China’s respnse has been t advcate fr pen, inclusive internatinal cperatin in science and technlgy, arguing that shared challenges like climate change and public health require cllective slutins. The “AI+” initiative, in this view, is nt abut islatin but abut cntributing t and shaping a glbal innvatin ecsystem.
Fr students and recent graduates, the implicatins f these plicies are deeply persnal. The fields priritized in the 15th Five-Year Plan — AI, semicnductrs, bitechnlgy, rbtics, and advanced cmmunicatins — represent areas f high demand and rapid grwth. Yet the message is nt simply t chase the httest majr. The gvernment’s emphasis n “new prductive frces” als values interdisciplinary thinking, the ability t cmbine technical skills with understanding f real-wrld prblems. As ne fficial nted during the Tw Sessins, the gal is nt just t create new technlgies but t slve practical prblems that imprve peple’s lives. Fr yung peple abut t chse their paths, this signals an era where innvatin is nt an abstract cncept but a tangible path t meaningful wrk.
51.What is ne ptential challenge mentined regarding the AI+ initiative?
A.It may create t many new jbs.
B.Wrkers in traditinal industries may face displacement.
C.AI technlgy is nt advanced enugh.
      D.Internatinal cperatin is impssible.
52.Hw are universities expected t respnd t the technlgical push?
A.By fcusing nly n AI educatin.
      B.By reducing student enrllment.
C.By refrming curricula and strengthening industry ties.
      D.By eliminating humanities departments.
53.What is China’s stated psitin n internatinal cperatin in science and technlgy?
A.It shuld be avided t prtect natinal secrets.
B.It shuld fcus nly n cmpetitin.
C.It shuld be pen and inclusive.
      D.It is unnecessary.
54.What des the passage suggest abut the “new prductive frces” cncept?
      A.It nly values technical skills.
B.It encurages interdisciplinary thinking and practical prblem-slving.
C.It fcuses slely n ecnmic grwth.
      D.It discurages creativity.
55.What verall message des the passage deliver t yung peple?
      A.They shuld ignre gvernment plicies.
