Fr many students in special educatin prgrams, schl spirit and typical extracurricular experiences can lk very different. There are n team sweaters, n cheerleading unifrms, and ften fewer pprtunities t take part in activities many students enjy. That reality stayed with Wes Massey, a special educatin teacher in Gergia — and he decided t d smething abut it.
“A lt f ur kids dn’t get t participate in things like basketball r cheerleading,” Massey explained. “I want these kids t enjy what ther kids wuld enjy,” he added. With the help f vlunteers and dnatins, Massey surprised 31 students in the state’s alternate assessment prgram — and their families — with smething many had never experienced befre: their first vernight trip.
The destinatin was Great Wlf Ldge in LaGrange, Gergia, and families didn’t have t pay a single dllar. Transprtatin, meals, ldging, and activities were all fully cvered. Planning the trip required extensive crdinatin. Multiple buses and supprt vehicles were arranged t accmmdate students with cmplex medical needs, including thse requiring xygen r feeding tubes.
When families arrived, the surprises cntinued. Each student received gift cards at check-in, giving them the chance t make chices independently — including buying their wn lunches. Students and families als enjyed activities that many were experiencing fr the very first time, like family putt-putt glf and ther interactive games at the resrt.
Supprt fr the trip extended beynd the schl system. As the buses traveled, the cunty sheriff (警长) persnally escrted (护送) them, which fully demnstrated the entire cmmunity’s full supprt fr these students.
Fr Massey, the message was simple but pwerful. “I knw life has been hard and there have been challenges,” he said. “But we are ging t d everything we can t make sure yu’re included, yu’re imprtant, and that yu matter.”

The decline f lins and pandas ften captures glbal attentin, but a quieter and ptentially mre damaging crisis is unflding amng small mammals. These tiny animals are disappearing at alarming rates, and their lss can have utsized cnsequences fr bidiversity. Small mammals are pwerful indicatrs f envirnmental health, yet tracking them has lng been a challenge because many species ccupy different eclgical rles while lking almst exactly alike.
This challenge is illustrated by the tw species used t test a new ftprint technique: Bushveld sengis (象鼩) and Eastern Rck sengis. Althugh they appear nearly the same, they live in different habitats and face different envirnmental pressures. While the tw sengi species lk alike, their feet are nt exactly the same. Tiny differences in ft shape leave distinct patterns in the ftprints they make.
Researchers have nw develped a new way t identify and mnitr these animals by analyzing their ftprints. The research team frm Duke University’s Nichlas Schl f the Envirnment fcused n capturing and analyzing these differences, training a cmputer mdel t recgnize which ftprints belnged t which species. By treating ftprint identificatin like a digital tracking prblem, the scientists aimed t replace invasive (侵入的) and expensive mnitring methds with a faster and mre practical alternative.
High - reslutin images f the ftprints were analyzed by using special sftware that measured shape and size characteristics. Frm this analysis, nine key ftprint features were selected and tested against previusly unseen images and sets f tracks. Acrss all trials, the system crrectly identified the species 94 percent t 96 percent f the time.
The results shw that ftprint analysis can ffer a simple, affrdable, and nn-invasive way t cnfirm species presence and track changes in ppulatin size and gegraphic range. The research team plans t expand the apprach t ther species by training new mdels with additinal datasets. They als hpe t cmpare ftprint analysis with ther nn-invasive mnitring techniques t see hw different tls can wrk tgether.
      28. Why des the authr mentin lins and pandas at the beginning?
      A. T criticize the public’s preference fr large animals.
      B. T shw the ignrance f small mammals’ cnservatin.
      C. T cmpare the living habits f different animal species.
      D. T highlight the imprtance f large mammals research.
      29. What can be inferred abut Eastern Rck sengis and Bushveld sengis?

A Chinese cmpany says it has rlled ut the wrld’s first fully recyclable carbn fiber wind turbine blade (涡轮叶片), a develpment that culd bring the wind industry clser t a carbn-neutral, waste-free future. The 110 - meter blade is made f recyclable carbn fiber panels that are bth strng and lightweight, and the carbn fiber can be cmpletely recvered and reused.
One 2017 study estimates that the wrld will face 43 millin tnnes f wind turbine blade waste by 2050. While scientists are wrking t develp better recycling prcesses, it’s still a lt f waste t tackle fr an energy technlgy the wrld will need t rely n in the future — we need better slutins like this.
Cnventinal wind turbine blades are currently difficult t recycle because their resin (树脂) and fiber makeup are permanently bnded when they’re manufactured. The new blade, the MySE23X, is mre than 110 meters (abut 361 feet) lng and is designed t be recycled at the end f its life, tackling ne f wind energy’s grwing waste prblems as turbines becme larger and mre pwerful.
Wind turbine blades have lng been a recycling headache, since mst are made frm cmpsite materials that are hard t break dwn. The cmpany says its new carbn fiber blade can be chemically separated using a special degradatin slutin that wrks at rm temperature and pressure. The cmpany says this allws the cmpsite materials t be efficiently brken apart and fully recycled.
The cmpany isn’t the nly turbine maker wrking n recyclable blades. A German cmpany already manufactures its recyclable blade, which is abut 95% recyclable. The German cmpany aims t make its blades fully recyclable by 2040. As wind turbines cntinue t scale up, slutins like this culd play a grwing rle in cutting waste and pushing the industry tward a mre circular supply chain.
      32. Why is MySE23X blade a revlutin?
      A. It’s the lngest blade ever prduced.
      B. It csts less than cnventinal blades.
      C. It can be fully recycled and reused.
      D. It generates mre pwer than previus mdels.
      33. What des the authr say abut the wind turbine blade waste prblem?
      A. Current technlgy alne is insufficient t tackle the massive waste.
      B. It remains uncertain whether recycling slutins will wrk.
      C. It has been ignred by mst turbine manufacturers.
      D. It has been cmpletely slved by MySE23X blade.
      34. What can we knw abut the German cmpany?
      A. It prduces the mst pwerful blade wrldwide.
      B. It aims t achieve full recyclability.
      C. It uses the same degradatin technlgy.
      D. It significantly reduces the prductin cst.
      35. What is the main idea f the text?
      A. A breakthrugh in wind turbine blade technlgy.
      B. The envirnmental impact f traditinal wind turbines.
      C. The develpment f wind turbine blade technlgy.
      D. The glbal cmpetitin in wind energy prductin.

My girl’s ready t hit the rad.” “But, yu’d better learn sme basic skills f car maintenance, like inflating (充气) tires in case f emergency,” he added.
Hwever, I was s lst in the jy f getting my driver’s license and being abut t drive t schl independently that I didn’t take my father’s wrds seriusly. Instead, I replied lightly, “Dn’t wrry, Dad! Inflating the car tires wuldn’t be necessary and I dn’t think it wuld be a difficult task.”
That particular Tuesday mrning, hwever, wuld teach me a valuable lessn. It was a particularly cludy mrning, and I was n my way t schl. The sky was a thick blanket f dark cluds, and rain was puring dwn in sheets. As I was driving, the “lw tire pressure” light suddenly flashed n the dashbard.
Panic instantly gripped my heart. At that mment, I deeply regretted nt having listened t my father and nt having learned abut the prcess f inflating the car tires in advance. My mind started racing with questins: Hw d I figure ut hw much air is already in the tires? Hw much d I need t add? Hw d I even set up the air - pumping (抽气的) machine?
I pulled int the gas statin, my hands trembling slightly n the steering wheel. There was a car behind me. The driver, a middle - aged man, was waiting patiently t fill up his tires. It was arund 8 a. m., a busy time when mst peple were rushing t get t wrk. I felt a sense f guilt fr hlding him up.
Embarrassed and frustrated with myself, I gestured tward the air pump and called ut, “I’m srry! I’ll mve my car s yu can use the pump first. I just need a minute.”
