As a junir ecnmics reprter, I was nce given an assignment which made me panic. I was asked t write a stry abut an ecnmic cncept I didn't really understand. N ne else frm my team was arund. Searching nline left me mre cnfused. Just then, Martin Wlf, the chief ecnmics cmmentatr(评论员)in my cmpany, walked past my desk. I tk a deep breath and asked him. Ever since then, I have been a big believer in asking “stupid" questins, by which I mean questins that yu fear make yu lk stupid. But I'm wrried this is a dying art. Prfessr Arvind Narayanan nce tld me that his students were always wrrying their questins might be silly, which made the vast majrity f his students tend t keep silent in lectures n matter hw he encuraged them, even when they were still filled with cnfusin.
Fear f asking "stupid" questins can lead yu t pretend yu knw mre than yu d, which als makes yu mre likely t believe whatever thers say. One study published in 2021 asked participants t rank their knwledge f a set f terms n a five-pint scale frm “never heard f it" t "knw it well, understand the cncept".Sme f the terms were real;thers were fake(伪造的).The study fund that peple wh were mre willing t pretend they knw smething well were mre likely t fall fr nnsense f thers.
I knw nt everyne is lucky enugh t have a Martin Wlf wandering past their desk. But trust me, a jurnalist wh asks questins fr a living: mst peple really dn't mind being asked smething "stupid". If they d, it is prbably because they dn't really understand it themselves, r they have smething t hide. In that sense, yu learn smething useful either way.

B.Few valuable questins are put frward.
C.Peple dn't knw hw t ask questins prperly.
D.Peple dn't feel ashamed f asking silly questins.
30.What des the 2021 study suggest?
A.Peple usually pretend t be knwledgeable.
B.Fake and real cncepts are hard t distinguish.
C.Peple shuldn't believe thers' wrds t quickly.
D.Fear f asking questins leads t bad cnsequences.
