Fancy letting a machine mediate (调解) yur argument? It culd be the latest applicatin fr AI. Scientists at Ggle’s DeepMind prject designed what they call the Habermas Machine, a large language AI named after German philspher Jürgen Habermas.
The system wrks by taking written views f individuals within a grup and using them t generate a set f grup statements designed t be acceptable t all. Grup members can then rate these statements. The mst ppular statement is then returned t participants t assess. Next, the AI mediatin system generates revised statements, which participants again rate. The system then selects the winning statement.
The team used the system in a series f experiments invlving a ttal f mre than 5,000 participants wh respnded t varius tpics. The researchers fund the initial grup statement frm the Habermas Machine was preferred by participants 56% f the time ver a grup statement prduced by human mediatrs.
