Fr the first time, scientists are tracking the migratin f mnarch butterflies (帝王蝶) acrss much f Nrth America, actively mnitring individual insects n jurneys frm Ontari all the way t their verwintering clnies (群体) in central Mexic. This lng-sught achievement culd prvide crucial insights int the prly understd life cycles f hundreds f species f butterflies at a time when many are in dramatic decline.
A crucial engineering advancement led t the tracking breakthrugh. Earlier this year, Cellular Tracking Technlgies, a New Jersey-based cmpany mdified its butterfly tag (标签), called BluMrph, in a way that allws its signals t be autmatically detected by billins f Bluetth-enabled devices, as lng as a tagged butterfly passes within abut 300 feet. This tiny slar-pwered radi tag weighs just 60milligrams. Researchers have tagged mre than 400 mnarchs this year and are nw fllwing their jurneys n a cellphne app — als develped by this cmpany.
Mst mnarchs weigh 500 t 600 milligrams, s each tag-bearing migratr making the transcntinental jurney is, by weight, like a half-raisin (葡萄干) carrying three uncked grains f rice. “There’s nthing that’s nt amazing abut this,” said Cheryl Schultz, a butterfly scientist at Washingtn State University. The mvements f mnarchs always remain a mystery, and “nw we will have answers that culd help us turn the tide.”
Mnarch tracking has relied n lw-tech methds ever since it began in 1935. The biggest current effrt is led by Mnarch Watch, which versees the annual sticker-tagging f mre than 100,000 mnarchs, thugh fewer than 1 percent are recvered in the winter clnies. Even when a mnarch bearing a sticker tag is fund, the infrmatin it yields is limited t the butterfly’s physical characteristics and the time and place it was tagged. That’s like trying t make sense f an entire bk frm nly its first and last pages.
Nw that thse pages are being filled in, researchers can see that the stry f the migratin is even mre dramatic than expected, with many mnarchs blwn far ff curse but using their strng wing muscles and remarkable navigatinal abilities t get back n track fr Mexic.
28.What des paragraph 2 mainly talk abut?
A.Hw researchers tagged butterflies.B.Hw BluMrph enables tracking.

C.The mystery f mnarchs has been slved.
D.The tiny tags represent an incredible advance.
30.What des the underlined sentence imply?
A.Details f mnarchs’ jurneys are nt revealed.
B.The sticker-tagged methd is superir t thers.
C.Mnarchs’ physical features are difficult t learn.
D.Understanding f mnarchs is limited t bks.
31.Which can serve as the best title f the text?
A.Tiny Tags: Revlutinizing Mnarchs’ Tracking
B.Stickers vs. Bluetth: Methds in Migratin Study

根据第二段中“A crucial engineering advancement led t the tracking breakthrugh. Earlier this year, Cellular Tracking Technlgies, a New Jersey-based cmpany mdified its butterfly tag (标签), called BluMrph, in a way that allws its signals t be autmatically detected by billins f Bluetth-enabled devices, as lng as a tagged butterfly passes within abut 300 feet.(一项关键的工程进步导致了追踪技术的突破。
根据第二段中“Earlier this year, Cellular Tracking Technlgies, a New Jersey-based cmpany mdified its butterfly tag (标签), called BluMrph, in a way that allws its signals t be autmatically detected by billins f Bluetth-enabled devices, as lng as a tagged butterfly passes within abut 300 feet.(今年年初,总部位于新泽西州的细胞追踪技术公司改良了一款名为 “蓝闪蝶” 的蝴蝶追踪标签。只要带有标签的蝴蝶经过约300英尺范围内,数十亿台装有蓝牙功能的设备就能自动接收并识别标签信号)”、第三段中““There’s nthing that’s nt amazing abut this,” said Cheryl Schultz, a butterfly scientist at Washingtn State University. The mvements f mnarchs always remain a mystery, and “nw we will have answers that culd help us turn the tide.”(华盛顿州立大学蝴蝶研究专家Cheryl Schultz表示:“这项技术简直令人叹为观止。”
根据第四段中“Even when a mnarch bearing a sticker tag is fund, the infrmatin it yields is limited t the butterfly’s physical characteristics and the time and place it was tagged. That’s like trying t make sense f an entire bk frm nly its first and last pages.(即使发现了一只带有贴纸标签的帝王蝶,所获得的信息也仅限于蝴蝶的身体特征以及贴标签的时间和地点。 因此,“That’s like trying t make sense f an entire bk frm nly its first and last pages.” 故选A。
通读全文,尤其是根据第一段中“Fr the first time, scientists are tracking the migratin f mnarch butterflies (帝王蝶) acrss much f Nrth America, actively mnitring individual insects n jurneys frm Ontari all the way t their verwintering clnies (群体) in central Mexic. In Myanmar’s Ayeyarwady River, there is a grup f Irrawaddy dlphins that are best-knwn fr giving a special signal — a wave f their tail — right befre the fishers shuld cast nets. They even passed this skill n t their babies.
“This is a pretty rare phenmenn in terms f human and wildlife cperatin. S, we’re nt nly cnserving n a species level, but als n a cultural level,” says Brian Smith, a river dlphin expert. “It’s a lessn t humanity abut ur relatinship with wildlife.”
The Irrawaddy dlphins have anther less-knwn trick: They spit water. It’s nt just fr fun, thugh. They use it t drive fish int tight grups s they’re easier t catch. Sme scientists even think they might d it t impress a ptential mate.
The Irrawaddy dlphins are ne f the nly six species that can live in freshwater. But they can als inhabit castal waters — a quality shared by even fewer species. Their range includes parts f castal waters f Suth and Sutheast Asia, as well as three specific rivers: the Mekng in Cambdia, the Mahakam in Indnesia, and the Ayeyarwady in Myanmar. While the species as a whle is listed as endangered by the Internatinal Unin fr Cnservatin f Nature (IUCN), the ppulatins in these three rivers are cnsidered critically endangered, with fewer than 100 individuals estimated in each.
These rivers and castal areas are ften clse t intense human activity, s they face serius threats frm pllutin, habitat lss, cal-carrying ships, and illegal electr-fishing — a practice in which fishers send electric currents thrugh the water t kill fish. Electr-fishing nt nly dramatically reduces the fish ppulatins that dlphins rely n, but it can als injure r kill the dlphins.
“Withut urgent actin, these cperative, curius creatures culd disappear frever, much like the Yangtze dlphins, which disappeared frm China’s waters in 2006, despite cnservatin effrts, as well as Mexic’s Vaquita dlphins, dwn t arund 10 individuals,” warns Smith.
32.Why d the Irrawaddy dlphins wave their tail?
A.T drive away the fishers.
B.T ask the fishers t wrk tgether.
C.T have fun with the fishers.
D.T remind the fishers f their presence.
33.What can be learned abut the Irrawaddy dlphins frm paragraph 4?
A.Fewer than 300 f them still exist.
B.Their habitat is limited t three rivers.
C.They knw hw t drive fish tgether.
D.They can als survive in castal waters.
34.What des the authr intend t d by mentining the electr-fishing?
A.T call n the gvernment t take actin.
B.T intrduce the latest fishing methd.
C.T shw the threats faced by the dlphins.

35.Which is the mst critically endangered species?
A.The Vaquita dlphins.
B.The Yangtze dlphins.
C.The Mekng dlphins.

故填have cntinued/ have been cntinuing。
故填where。
故填a。
