Every year at the start f September, we welcme new students in primary schls. Frm the first graders, we can usually find ut what names are ppular these years. And behind these ppular names, there are sme interesting rules.
One imprtant rule fr chsing names, bth in the past and nw, is t chse nes with psitive meanings. We can see this rule in ppular names. A few years ag, names like Zihan and Zixuan were cmmn. Tday, names such as Fusu and Yngxi are mre cmmn, said Beijing News. All these names have beautiful meanings and shw that many parents still fllw the rule by chsing names cnnected with Chinese culture.
The rule f chsing meaningful names has a very lng histry. During the Tang Dynasty, Cnfucianism (儒学) was ppular. Many peple then chse names with wrds like “ren” (kindness) and “de” (gdness) . A gd example in that time is Di Renjie. He was a famus and wise fficial. The “ren” in his name means kindness. This idea was very imprtant in Cnfucianism. In his wrk, Di Renjie was fair and wise. He truly cared abut the peple. This way, his life and his name bth shwed the real meaning f “ren”. It means t be kind and t help thers.
