Carl Behnke, a fd safety expert at Purdue University, had lng been curius abut the actual cleanliness f his reusable water bttle. Behnke and his wrkmates stpped passers - by alng a rad at Purdue University and asked if they wuld be happy t lend their water bttles t them as part f their research — t see hw clean they were.
“One thing that std ut frm the prject was the number f peple wh didn't want t knw the results,” recalls Behnke. “Basically, they knew that their cleaning habits were pr, with sme even hardly thinking abut cleaning their bttles.”
Research shws that reusable water bttles can carry millins f bacteria(细菌). A study fund that water in bttles used by adults went frm abut 75,000 bacteria per milliliter in the mrning t ver 1 - 2 millin by the end f the day.
