This chart shws glbal GDP per capita, adjusted fr inflatin. Lking at the wrld ecnmy frm this perspective, it is the steadiness f this change that stands ut. Average incmes per persn have risen at a fairly cnstant pace f rughly 2% per year, interrupted nly by the 2008 financial crisis and the 2020 pandemic.
A definitin f ecnmic grwth that can be fund in many publicatins is "an increase in the amunt f gds and services prduced per head f the ppulatin ver a perid f time." There is ne example f hw grwth is pssible and what ecnmic grwth is. A few centuries ag, the nly way t prduce a bk was fr a scribe (抄写员) t cpy it wrd-fr-wrd by hand. Bk prductin was a slw prcess; it tk a scribe abut eight mnths f daily wrk t prduce a single cpy f the Bible.
It was s labrius that nly very few bks were prduced. But then, in the 15th century, Jhannes Gutenberg develped a new prductin technlgy, and it changed things dramatically. Instead f spending mnths t prduce ne bk, a wrker was nw able t prduce several bks
a day. Bks, which were previusly nly available t a tiny grup, became available t mre and mre peple.
Actually, natinal ecnmies change. Sme ecnmies slw; many thers grw and mre generally, sme majr plitical shifts take place. Yet when all f this is cmbined, the glbal average fllws a remarkably smth upward trend.
What's the mst striking feature f wrld ecnmy?
The slwdwn f glbal grwth after the 2008 financial crisis.
The rapid grwth f glbal grwth due t technlgical prgress.
The permanent interruptin t glbal grwth by the 2020 pandemic.
      D. The relative cnsistency f glbal grwth ver the last three decades.
      22. Hw des the authr explain the cncept f ecnmic grwth?
      A. By quting an expert.B. By listing definitins.
      C. By giving an example.D. By prviding statistics.
      23. What is the key factr that led t the dramatic change in bk prductin?
      A. The emergence f wrkers.B. The printing press technlgy.
      C. The wide availability f paper.D. The grwing number f scribes.

Christmas time with kids is filled with warm traditins: Listening t Christmas music while decrating the tree, ging t lk at Christmas lights with ht chclate in hand, and taking the kids t visit Santa Claus. Well, delete that last ne. At least fr my family.
Parents think abut hw fun it will be at first t take their kids t see Santa, r tell them gifts are n their way frm Santa, but this cmes with a series f annying questins abut Mr. Claus like hw he makes it t all the huses in ne night, as well as the brken trust after revealing the truth. I didn't want that.
Yu may think that ur Christmases were rigid, stuffy, and withut any warmth r magic. I dn't think s. Part f that is due t what I taught my kids abut Christmas. Instead f telling them Santa is real, I tld them it mst likely has its rigins in St. Nichlas, a man wh was kind and generus t children in need. Netflix's 2021 mvie "A By Called Christmas" is a useful tl fr helping kids cnnect Christmas myths and traditins with reality while keeping the spirit f genersity alive.
The mnth f December is filled with mvie and game nights, plays and cncerts. These family traditins have added flavr t my kids' entire childhd. Hpefully, they knw nw that it's the time with family, ding special things tgether, that creates the magic and that my lve fr them ges well beynd just ne day — and that magic, wnder and awe can happen any time with family, especially if we remain generus and grateful.
My kids are lder nw, and they're glad they didn't believe the myth f Santa. It was ne fewer bad memry fr them, ne fewer blw t their inncent childhd.
What is special fr the authr's family's Christmas time?
Appreciating Christmas lights.B. Skipping visiting Santa Claus.
      C. Unlcking secrets f Santa Claus.D. Helping Santa Claus deliver gifts.
      25. What des the authr want t cnvey t her kids in paragraph 3?
      A. Genersity cmes frm reality.B. Warmth cunts t Christmas.
      C. St. Nichlas is an unsung her.D. Santa myth will break kids' trust.
      26. What des the authr intend t shw by mentining "the magic f Christmas"?
      A. T prve that the Santa myth is nt necessary fr Christmas.
      B. T explain why family entertainments are ppular in December.
      C. T shw that Christmas is the mst magical festival fr families.
      D. T stress that shared family time is the cre f Christmas' charm.
      27. Which f the fllwing can best describe the authr?
      A. Rigid but caring.B. Generus and devted.
      C. Distant but uncnventinal.D. Thughtful and insightful.

Pushing my cart thrugh the grcery stre, I lk at the ther shppers. D they knw that nearly 70% f what's n the shelves is verly prcessed? Accrding t a recent reprt by the US Centers fr Disease Cntrl, ultra-prcessed fds (UPFs) nw make up 53% f the average American adult's diet — and 62% f a child's.
Studies link just 10% mre daily calries frm UPFs t sharply higher risks: a 50% increase in heart-related death, and 55% greater chance f besity (肥胖). Yet despite reading cuntless studies and learning frm experts, I still find UPFs nearly impssible t avid. Walk with me dwn the rws f snack shelves, and I'll explain why.
Overflwing with sugar, salt and fat, the clrfully packaged candies, ckies and chips, despite being calrie-laded and nutritinally bad fr us, are deliciusly addictive. Experts say the fd industry engineered its recipes t target ur "bliss pint" — creating the abslute yummiest cmbinatins f ingredients t make it nearly impssible t "eat just ne."
Apart frm the deliciusness f thse snacks, the majrity f ther UPFs, such as ready-t-eat meals and instant mixes, cntain artificial flavrs and preservatives. The cnvenience f such lng-lasting, affrdable fds is undeniable: we can make meals withut stirring sauce fr hurs ver the stve, freeing up time fr ther parts f life.
"Fd cmpanies tday have clsed ff their prcessing plants," said Ppkin, a researcher frm University f Suth Carlina, "s we can't clinically cmpare effects f eating whle crn t decnstructed crn." Despite grwing evidence f harm, the industry cntinues marketing UPFs aggressively. "They dn't want t lse their cash cw, s they're willing t put millins int fighting gvernment restrictins n UPFs as well as funding nutritinists t vice evidence f their harmlessness," Ppkin said.
There is a silver lining, frtunately. In May, the Wrld Health Organizatin called n scientists wrldwide t help set guidelines n UPF cnsumptin. Yes, there will always be junk fd. But if the majrity f ur fd culd be made fresher and less prcessed, we'd be n ur way t a healthier wrld.
What phenmenn des the authr describe in paragraph 1?
Children eat less UPFs than adults d.B. Shppers are widely expsed t UPFs.
      C. Peple are cncerned abut their fd.D. Ultra-prcessed fd has becme a hit.
      29. What d the underlined wrds "bliss pint" in paragraph 3 prbably mean?
      A. Sensry pleasure.B. Mental thrill.C. Shpping mtive.D. Nutritinal balance.
      30. What might fd cmpanies try t d accrding t Ppkin?
      A. Fund ppsitin t gvernment interventin.
      B. Open mre plants t supprt clinical studies.
      C. Wrk with nutritinists fr healthy prducts.
      D. Reduce UPFs marketing t prtect business.
      31. What can be a suitable title fr the text?
      A. Cnvenience f Ultra-Prcessed Fds
      B. Innvatin Behind Ultra-Prcessed Fds
      C. Reasns fr Ultra-Prcessed Fds Trend
      D. Risks f Ultra-Prcessed Fds Cnsumptin
      D
Fifteen decades ag, Francis Galtn first came up with the term "nature versus nurture", and this debate ver the factrs shaping human identity has lng been a central tpic in human sciences. D ur genes determine ur life paths, as hereditarians (遗传论者) argue? Or are we brn as empty paper, shaped merely by the experiences we have in ur families and the wider wrld? Tday, hwever, a new branch f science is ready t verturn the debate. Thrugh this new perspective, nature and nurture are hardly separable at all — genes and the envirnment d nt act independently, but instead interact clsely and even shape ne anther in tangible ways.
Genes d nt shape ur identities merely n their wn within ur bdies; instead, they functin partly by mlding the envirnments we chse r create. A striking finding f this research is that ur envirnment is, in part, shaped by the genes f the peple arund us. Initial research suggests that yur partner's genes influence yur likelihd f depressin almst a third as much as yur wn genes d. A few students with a genetic trend fr smking in a high schl seemed t cause smking rates t skyrcket acrss the entire grade — even amng students wh have n direct cntact with these students — like a gene-driven wildfire spreading thrugh scial netwrks.
Genes alne aren't enugh t determine these utcmes and neither is envirnment. Nature and nurture bth shape each ther, with nature influencing the way we experience nurture and nurture influencing the way ur nature expresses itself. The mre pprtunities and infrmatin the envirnment prvides — the mre varied envirnments becme — the bigger the rle that genetic variatin plays in distinguishing us int different grups.
Nature and nurture aren't separate frces — they're a Möbius strip (莫比乌斯环), endlessly circling back n each ther. This interdependence means their interactin is fluid and reciprcal, a cre insight f scigenmics that bridges genetic and scial science.
Why did the authr mentin the "nature versus nurture" debate in paragraph 1?
T emphasize the dminant rle f family experiences.
T intrduce a lng-standing cre tpic in human sciences.
T highlight the weakness f early hereditarians' arguments.
      D. T lay a cntrastive fundatin fr a new scientific perspective.
      33. What can be inferred frm the example f students?
      A. Smking behavir spreads mainly thrugh direct persuasin.
      B. Genetic tendencies can indirectly change grup behavir.
      C. Schl rules fail t cntrl students' genetic instincts.
      D. Only smkers' friends adpt the same genetic risks.
      34. What happens when envirnments becme mre diverse accrding t paragraph 3?
      A. Peple rely less n their genetic traits.
      B. Genetic differences play a smaller rle.
      C. Genetic differences becme mre influential.
      D. Nurture becmes mre imprtant than nature.
      35. What des the authr mean by cmparing nature and nurture t a "Möbius strip"?
      A. They depend entirely n physical cnditins.
      B. They have a ne-way influence n each ther.
      C. They frm a cmplex, cntinuus cycle f impact.
      D. They are tw separate parts f human develpment.
      第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)

Scial media has becme an inescapable part f mdern life, raising cncerns acrss generatins. 36 When we scrll thrugh screens, ur brains becme hked n the ntificatins, whse unpredictable nature makes them mre addictive.
This addictin taps int a fundamental human need. We are scial beings, hard-wired (固有的) t desire recgnitin. 37 The cnstant feedback lp (循环) can turn scial apprval int a measurable, and ften anxius, pursuit.
Given the prfund impact f scial media, the questin f regulatin arises. With substances like alchl, gvernments impse age limits due t their prven harm t develping minds. 38 Research indicates that it has a distinct influence n yung peple's develping brains — even cntributing t reduced grey matter.
39 Overcming addictin shuld becme a chice rather than frced inactin. If scial media is unavidable, is it nt a wiser ptin t equip yung peple t navigate its challenges rather than shelter them entirely?
As develpmental psychlgy suggests, adlescents thrive when allwed t learn frm mistakes in a supprtive setting. Merely restricting access may fuel curisity and leave them ill-prepared fr digital life. Instead, we wuld engage with their vices as well as instruct them. 40
Its addictive design is the cre issue.
But a ttal ban n minrs sparks heated debate.
The same lgic shuld apply t scial media regulatin.
If s, we are mre likely t attain the utcme we all desire.
Many teenagers spend ver five hurs daily n varius scial platfrms.
Scial media satisfies this by quantifying wrth thrugh likes and shares.
      G. Hwever, the regulatin f scial media cannt be cmpletely equal t that f alchl.
