Step 1 Befre yu read 读前活动,激活学生的背景知识
看图辨认(Lk, match and discuss):教师展示课本第68页图片,并提问“What d yu knw abut these animals in danger? 若学生程度较好,可补充更多动物的图片,扩充学生的背景知识。
知识竞赛(Quiz):教师通过一个小知识竞赛引导学生了解濒危动物的生活环境。

Which animals live in bamb frests in Central and Western China?
Which animals live in wetlands in Asia?
Which animals live in the Arctic?
Which animals live in grassland and frests in Asia?
Which animals live in grassland in Africa?
主题词联想(Wrd clud challenge):教师在黑板上画出云朵图形,标注主题词Asian elephant,让学生分组竞赛,轮流说出与主题词相关的单词或短语,教师将这些词汇填入词汇云中,学生基于词汇云开展对话练习。

Step 2 Predict befre reading 读前预测,初识文章的话题和体裁
教师引导学生快速浏览课文的标题、配图和第一段,通过以下问题了解本篇文章的体裁,猜测语篇内容和题目的含义。

Step 3 Read fr structure 略读文章,匹配段意
学生通过快速阅读,标清段落,总结段落大意,同时在课文中划出标志性句子或者关键词。
Step 4 Read fr details 精读第二、三段,对比大象的生活境况
学生分成小组,在阅读语篇第二、三段后,完成课本第70页活动1。若学生程度较好,可引导学生参照下列表格信息,对比新旧世界中,人类行为及大象家族境况的变化。
Step 5 Read fr details 精读第三段,总结人类保护大象的具体措施
教师呈现问题链,学生阅读语篇第三段,找出文中描述人类改善大象生存状况的相关做法,回答问题,同时从自身的角度进行思考,能通过哪些实际行动来改善大象的生存状况。
Step 6 Read fr attitudes 再读文本,找到人类对动物态度的变化
教师呈现人类态度变化路线图(Humans were cruel t elephants.→ Humans treat elephants well),学生四人一组回到文本找语言证据,如:Humans were cruel t elephants. (sht dead; frced them t d tricks)→ Humans treat elephants well.(dn’t chase r harm them; leave them bags f crn and fruit; fllw their prgress; prtect them frm danger; respect and value all animal species)。通过分析对比,帮助学生理解人类对动物态度的转变,加深对人与动物和谐共生概念的理解。

推断(Making inferences frm cntext clues)
引导学生有感情地朗读以下句子,推断大象的情感变化。
