In mst AI’s histry, machines have nt truly “figured things ut” n their wn. They have learned — but nly after humans first engineered the rules that allw them t learn. Even in reinfrcement learning, where an AI agent trains itself by trial and errr, the backbne f the prcess — the learning algrithm (算法) — is always human-designed. But a new study published in Nature hints that this divisin f labr may nt last lng. Researchers have created an AI system that discvered a cmpletely new way t learn, withut being tld hw t d it—and then utperfrmed the best human-designed algrithms n sme f the hardest tests in the field.
The researchers created a vast ppulatin f AI agents, drpped them int numerus cmplex envirnments, and gave them an initial learning rule. Each agent tried t slve its tasks. Their successes and failures were then evaluated by a separate AI system, a kind f meta-intelligence (元智能) , which acted like evlutin itself. This meta-netwrk did nt learn the tasks. It learned hw t change the learning rule itself. After each generatin f agents, it adjusted the rule s the next generatin culd adapt mre successfully. Over many cycles, a new learning rule emerged. The researchers named the discvered rule DiscRL, and a specific implementatin (实施) , tested n 57 Atari envirnments, was nicknamed Disc57.
The team used it t train a fresh AI agent and evaluated its perfrmance against sme f the strngest human-engineered algrithms ever develped. Disc57-trained agents utperfrmed all human-designed reinfrcement algrithms. And in the hardest tests, where strategies must be invented n the fly, again, DiscRL shwed state-f-the-art perfrmance, despite never being clearly prgrammed by humans fr these dmains.
This really matters because ding well n unseen tasks is the clsest thing AI has t a definitin f “true intelligence.” It demnstrates nt memrizatin but transferable learning. DiscRL wasn’t just running a rule invented by researchers — it was using a learning strategy invented by itself.
      28. Why des the authr mentin “the backbne f the prcess”?
      A. T prve AI can figure ut tasks independently.
      B. T cnfirm AI’s ability t reinfrce task-learning.
      C. T present the fact that AI can divide backbnes efficiently.
      D. T illustrate that AI machines d missins prgrammed by humans.
      29. What des Paragraph 2 mainly talk abut?
      A. The rganizer f the study. B. The prcess f the research.
      C. The implicatin f the research. D. The applicatin f the study.
      30. What des the underlined wrd “state-f-the-art” in Paragraph 3 mean?
      A. Ttally different. B. Particularly disadvantaged.
      C. The best available. D. Arranged in a beautiful way.

      C. T clarify the classificatin f AI agents. D. T hnr an emerging AI cmputing cmpany.
      D

Each article was reviewed by tw cders. The cders independently selected the studies based n details including sample size, gender rati, and the cuntry in which the sample was cllected.
This prcedure generated a dataset which cmprised f 37, 247 participants (52% female) ranging frm ages 8 t 77 years.
The researchers fund that all three dimensins f narcissism declined acrss the life span.
