      Thrugh the windw, Anqi watched her classmates running and laughing acrss the playgrund. They were
      flding and flying paper planes. Actually, they were training fr Paper Airplane Cmpetitin — ne f the student
      activities in this term. Anqi wanted t jin them but she was afraid f being laughed at, because she culdn’t even
      make a plane.
      Tw weeks had passed since Anqi jined this class, but she still felt like an utsider. Thugh Chinese by birth,
      she spent her first twelve years in Chicag, because her father was at the University f Chicag t btain the
      dctral and pstdctral degrees fr eight years and stayed in Chicag fr anther fur years due t crnavirus
      pandemic. S when she returned t China with parents, she had t adapt t the new envirnment, but bviusly she
      didn’t fit in well.
      Anqi had almst n friends but a girl named Xia Yan quietly paid attentin t her. Xia Yan was the “Plane
      Princess” f the class fr her magic fingers culd transfrm any plain paper int wnderful planes. She saw Anqi’s
      struggle and wanted t ffer a hand but she was a little shy herself. Besides, XiaYan was uncnfident fr her pr
      English especially when she witnessed hw gd Anqi’s English was. She hped her English was as gd as Anqi’
      s s that she culd take part in the cntest — Tell Chinese Stries in English.
      Anther day as classmates raced t fly the planes, Anqi was flding a paper, nervusly cpying what she had
      seen. Finally, she made smething like a plane. She ran utside t fly it, hping it wuld glide (滑行) fr a distance.
      Sadly, the “plane” drpped quickly, which happened t be seen by sme classmates. Extremely embarrassed, Anqi
      ran away and cried, “Why can’t I even fld a paper airplane prperly?”
