As the next schl's cncert band tk their places nstage, the stage lights in the music hall dimmed. A yung man, the cncertmaster (首席小提琴手), called upn each sectin t play, tuning them with precisin and grace. The mment the musical directr appeared, a wave f applause filled the air.
The annual High Schl Music Festival was the highlight f my year. As a music teacher, I never missed a sessin, always amazed by the extrardinary talents the musical directrs inspired in their students. But this year might be my last visit. With age catching up, my desire fr retirement was grwing strnger.
Hnestly, there was always a tuch f dissatisfactin and envy in my heart as I watched these schl bands, because I had never been able t develp a band t this level. I taught in a small primary schl. My students played beginner music, and they were happy when we managed t play frm the start all the way t the end f a piece, with all the instruments finishing tgether. The cmplexities f full tne, dynamic cntrl, and balance were beynd their abilities.
As the band pened with their first piece, the striking sund f vilins, accmpanied by the lively ntes f pians, set my heart punding. Wuldn't it be great t be the musical directr fr ne f these massive high schl bands? I thught as the music transprted me. When the last ntes rang ut, there was a brief silence befre thunderus applause erupted. My aging eyes scanned the stage, seeking familiar faces amng the perfrmers. But my visin was n lnger sharp enugh t recgnize anyne.
During the tea break, I headed tward the entrance hall. "Miss Jnes!" a yung man's vice cut thrugh the crwd. I recgnized the cncert unifrm he was wearing. It was the very vilinist I had been admiring. "It was yu wh set me n the music path," Bradley spke with gratitude. He then recunted his musical jurney with the vilin. I listened attentively, amazed at the transfrmative pwer f music. As he returned t his band, a prud smile spread acrss my face.
I was still smiling as I made my way back t the music hall. As I tk my seat, my heart swelled with quiet pride in knwing the rle I had played in a yung man's music jurney. The lights dimmed again, and the stage came alive with the energy f yung musicians. They began t play, each nte resnating with the memry f the first tentative sunds my students had made under my guidance. As the final piece began, I clsed my eyes, letting the music wash ver me. The music hall, nce a place f my lnging and unfulfilled dreams, nw eched with a life well-spent in the service f art and educatin.
