Glwing greenery isn’t a new idea. Past studies have designed similar plants using genetic engineering. But the glw is ften weak and is typically nly available in green. The methds were als cmplex and cstly.
Instead f changing cells t glw thrugh genetic mdificatin, researchers frm Suth China Agricultural University used afterglw phsphr (磷光粉) particles — materials similar t thse fund in glw-in-the-dark tys. These cmpunds absrb light and release it slwly ver time. Fr the particles t travel thrugh leaf tissues, the researchers had t get the size just right: arund 7 micrmeters, rughly the width f a red bld cell.
“Smaller particles mved easily within the plant but they had lw brightness,” says leading researcher Shuting Liu. “Larger particles glwed brighter but culdn’t travel far inside the plant.”

B. It prduces mre clrful light.
C. It is mre envirnmentally friendly.
D. It suits a wider range f plant species.
15. What shuld be paid special attentin t when chsing phsphr particles?
