The auditin rm was full f mirrrs and judgement. One by ne, the ther candidates played fast, perfect
pieces. When Qian’s turn came, she fund her bamb flute (长笛) had cracked during the jurney: a hairline split
ran acrss the embuchure (吹奏口). The tne that emerged was breathy, as if the wind itself were sbbing.
She thught f withdrawing, but the judges — six city musicians — were already staring. Instead f the
required music, Qian clsed her eyes and played the lullaby her mther used t hum after lng factry shifts. It had
n cmpser, nly the rhythm f shuttle lms and small pauses where her mther caught her breath.
When she finished, the rm was silent. Then the yungest judge, a blind wman with silver earrings, asked,
“Can yu play it again, but this time answer the flute when it questins yu?” Qian lifted the cracked flute and
discvered the crack had lwered every nte slightly, creating a gentle crying sund. She played the lullaby
again, letting the meldy break and then heal itself in the music. The judge smiled, tears in her eyes.
Tw weeks later, a letter arrived at the textile mill. It was written in bth Chinese and Braille. “We have heard
many flawless perfrmances,” it read, “but nly yurs remembered the sund f a mther cming hme tired. The
rchestra needs that memry.”
Zha Qian became the city’s first bamb flutist. During cncerts, audiences smetimes whispered that her

Yung Chinese adults are driving a bming “dll-dress ecnmy”, buying tiny utfits fr cllectible figures
like Disney’s LinaBell and Pp Mart’s Labubu. Once a niche(小众的) hbby, dressing figurines has becme a
majr cnsumptin trend.
The trend started n scial media platfrms. Since early 2023, the hashtag#DressMyDll has clcked up
1-2billin views, with users psting OOTD shts that match their wn clthes t 20-cm dlls. Fr many fans,
dressing dlls is abut mre than clthing the mini cmpanins. “Dlls with custmized clthes are stress-relief
tys, scial icebreakers and emtinal anchrs.” says Beijing ffice wrker Sharn Han.
On e-cmmerce platfrms, thusands f shps sell dll clthes ranging frm 16 yuan fr basics t 200 yuan
fr limited editins. Sme high- end limited pieces f replicas(复制品) f celebrity cstumes can exceed 200 yuan.
Hwever, 1.4 millin sets f dll clthing were sld thrugh e- cmmerce platfrms in 2023; the figure jumped t 3
第 6页/共 14页
millin in 2024 — an increase f 117%, accrding t the data frm CCTV Finance shw. Sptting the vlume,
garment wrkshps in Jiangsu and Zhejiang retled within weeks. “We used t make sample skirts fr adult
brands; nw 60% f ur utput is palm-size,” says a Changzhu factry wner. Sme wrkshps have even
integrated fabrics such as silk int miniature designs, reviving traditinal techniques in pcket- sized frm.
Hwever, risks remain. Mnthly grwth has flattened t 4% by May 2025, and resale prices f the leading dll
brand “LuluClset” have slipped 35% since March, after the cmpany restcked a best-selling mini-series three
times within tw mnths. The pattern mirrrs what happened t Pp Mart’s Labubu figures — versupply cled
a nce- ht secndary market.
T keep the frenzy alive, brands are nw adpting “micr- seasns”: fur limited drps a year, each capped at
30,000 sets, with visible prductin cdes sewn inside every skirt. “Scarcity plus quality is the nly sustainable
cmpetitive edge,” ntes the head f Yiwu Ty & Gift Assciatin. Whether the strategy can lck in yung
generatin’s emtinal spend will decide if the dll-dress ecnmy becmes a classic r a crash.
28. What is the main reasn behind the ppularity f dll-dressing accrding t Sharn Han?
A. T shw ff their wealth. B. T match their wn utfits.
C. T cllect limited editins. D. T experience the emtinal value.
29. What can we learn frm Paragraph 3?
A. E-cmmerce platfrms play a vital rle in adult-dressing ecnmy.
B. The price f dll utfits with traditinal techniques have ballned.
C. Garment factries shifted t mini- clthes due t the saring demand.
D. Innvative materials t make miniature clthing are under develpment.
30. Why des authr mentin the case f LuluClset?
A. T warn that versupply can threaten t kill a craze.
B. T prve many cmpanies implement stck strategy.
C. T illustrate the sales f best-selling series are stable.
D. T shw the resale prices f the tp brand rarely change.
31. Hw can dress- up dll brands prbably unlck their future grwth?
A. By expanding int new prduct lines and markets.
B. By priritizing custmers’ emtinal affectin nly.
C. By cmbining cntrlled release quantities with high quality.
D. By issuing unlimited basics t meet every cnsumer’s price pint.

We ften imagine cnservatin unflding in wild, remte landscapes, nt in the middle f bustling cities. But
lk a little clser and a different stry emerges. On rftps, in alleyways and thrugh the tiniest cracks in the
pavement, bidiversity is finding its way back in the heart f metrplis.
Nathalie Pettrelli f the Zlgical Sciety f Lndn argues that cities are ecsystems in their wn right. “If
yu accept the city is an ecsystem ” she says, “the questin then becmes: Hw d yu make this ecsystem mre
bidiverse?”
Obviusly, cnnectivity is ne answer. In the UK, initiatives such as Hedgehg (刺 猬 ) Street encurage
neighburs t link their gardens thrugh small fence hles t allw free mvement. Utrecht in the Netherlands has
sewn tgether mre than 120km f wildflwer strips, prviding cntinuus habitat fr bees and butterflies. A bee
highway in Osl, Nrway, weaves thrugh rftps, parks and balcnies t ffer pllinatrs safe passage arund
the urban maze.
Wildlife bridges are anther pwerful tl fr cnnecting habitats. The Netherlands is well knwn fr
pineering “ecducts” — green verpasses that allw animals such as deer, bar and badgers t safely crss busy
highways. Califrnia is currently cmpleting the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crssing, which will span an
expansive 10 lanes f traffic and recnnect a fragmented muntain lin ppulatin that was cut ff by the freeway.
Even the mst rdinary city surfaces can be recruited. Nature-psitive architecture is the grwing trend:
rftps that stre rainwater and shelter swifts, walls cvered with plants that cl streets and feed insects, etc. By
turning hard surface int micr-habitats, it nt nly minimises impact n the envirnment but actively restre and
enhances bidiversity, prviding shelter, fd and cnnectivity fr wildlife.
Emma Marris, authr f Rambunctius Garden: Saving Nature in a Pst-Wild Wrld, is delighted t see that
sme f the best urban nature is accidental and wildlife is making a cmeback where it has the space t d s.
“Such as spntaneus plants clnising fld znes, birds nesting in signbards...” she says.
Whether yu’re planting native plants n a shed rf r simply leaving a patch f garden untidy, there’s space
fr everyne in the future wild city. Nature desn’t need perfectin — it just needs pprtunity.
32. What’s the main purpse f Paragraph 1?
A. T pint ut a prblem. B. T intrduce the tpic.
C. T present a phenmenn. D. T questin the previus view.
33. Which initiative serves as a way t create cnnectivity fr insects in urban areas?
第 8页/共 14页
A. Wildflwer strips in Utrecht.
B. Hedgehg Street in the UK.
C. Ecducts in the Netherlands.
D. The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crssing.
34. What des the underlined wrd “spntaneus” mean in paragraph 6?
A. Deliberately planted.
B. Carefully prtected by law.
C. Imprted frm ther cuntries.
D Grwing naturally withut planning.
35. What can be inferred frm the passage?
A. Every city garden must be kept tidy t attract diverse wildlife.
B. Nature-psitive architecture is a prmising but impractical apprach.
C Urban bidiversity can be bsted thrugh creative human interventin.
D. Cnservatin effrts shuld fcus n remte wilderness rather than cities.

The Ech f Lve
The afternn sun like melted hney slwly streamed ver the carved bench in the curtyard. On the bench,a
yung man dressed in a finely tailred suit was absrbed in reading a newspaper. Beside him was an ld man
wearing a lse wlen sweater.
Suddenly, a swallw with shiny black feathers and an elegant scissr-like tail flitted briskly ver the bluestne
slabs and perched in the grass nt far away. The father’s eyes were instantly drawn t it. He leaned frward slightly
and asked in childlike curisity, “What’s that?” The sn lked up, quickly glanced at the swallw and replied
casually, “A swallw.” After that, he turned gaze back t the newspaper. The father ndded, his Adam’s apple
rlling slightly but his eyes never left the hpping swallw.
After a while, he spke again, still full f dubt in his vice. The sn frwned and clsed the newspaper, his
tne shwing a bit mre impatience, “Dad, I just tld yu. It’s a swallw.” With that, he casually shk the
newspaper and the lud rustling sund was particularly clear in the quiet afternn. As if sensing the mvement,
the swallw suddenly flapped its wings and flew up, perching n the branches f the Chinese parasl tree in the
crner f the curtyard, its tail wagging up and dwn.
The father leaned frward again, his eyes fllwing the swallw’s figure clsely, “What’s that?” This time the
sn slammed the newspaper shut and his vice rse, “A swallw! Dad, it’s a swallw!” He pinted at the swallw
n the branch irritably and stressed each wrd ludly as he spelled, “S-W-A-L-L-O-W, SWALLOW!”
The father was silent fr a mment and then slwly std up. Seeing this, the sn asked in a puzzled tne,
