After a day f scuba diving (水肺潜水), Luis Antni “Tñ” Llreda was tired when he heard the urgent news: a whale was caught in a net. Llreda, 43, had freed smaller wildlife befre, but this was his first marine animal f such size. The yung humpback whale, fur t five meters lng, had a net arund its fin and muth. Llreda remved the net while the mther whale waited nearby.
Llreda is a member f Guardianes del Mar (Guardians f the Sea), an African - Clmbian grup frm six castal cmmunities arund Clmbia's Gulf f Tribugá, a bidiversity htspt n the Pacific cast. The regin, where rainfrest meets the cean, is a UNESCO bisphere reserve and a “hpe spt” fr its eclgical (生态的) imprtance. The guardians dive t remve nets f plastics that endanger marine life.
With spnsrship frm Ecmares and Cnservatin Internatinal, the guardians have trained in diving and remving nets frm cral with safe techniques. Many als act as cral gardeners and reef surveyrs, cllecting data fr cmmunities and scientists. Three, including Llreda, are trained t free marine animals. Accrding t WWF, abut 50,000 tns f fishing device are drpped in the ceans each year. In the Gulf f Tribugá, three t fur humpback whales are trapped annually.
T expand their impact, Guardianes del Mar wrks t train mre divers but faces financial prblems. “We used t send the nets t Buenaventura fr recycling, but fuel csts are t high,” says Benjamin Gnzales, a senir guardian. With n rads, everything must be mved by bat r plane. Nw, the nets are made int decratins t sell lcally and abrad, while lead weights are recycled int diving tls.
The spirit f care between peple and nature runs deep in Tribugá, hme t abut 7,000 peple. African - Clmbian cmmunities here c - gvern the regin with Indigenus Emberá. “Everyne fishes, s we can't tell peple t stp using nets,” says Camil Mrante, the yungest guardian. “The mst imprtant thing is that we raise cnsciusness (意识) lcally s that we understand the cnsequences f ur actins.”
      28. Why des the authr mentin Llrda's experience?
      A. T intrduce the rescue wrk.

Imagine yu've just shut a dr n yur finger. This sudden pain ften causes a vcal(声音) respnse—maybe yu cry ut "uch!" But d such sunds differ acrss cultures?
Humans are vcally expressive. Besides speaking, we als laugh, gran r cry—these are called nnlinguistic vcalizatins. We als use interjectins(感叹词) like "uch" r "ww" t express emtins. These have been fund in every human culture studied s far. Hwever, scientists still knw little abut hw these sunds vary acrss the wrld r why they might d s.
In ur recent study, we fcused n vwel(元音) sunds in expressins f pain, jy and dislike acrss mre than 130 languages. We wanted t knw if emtinal sunds cntain similar vwels acrss cultures. This culd help understand the histry f language.
Our main idea was that emtinal sunds are nt by chance—they help express meaning. Fr example, pain cries are ften lud and harsh, made with a wide - pen muth, which tends t prduce [æ] - like vwels (as in "cat"). Try saying "ski" with yur muth wide pen—yu'll find it difficult. [i] - like vwels are mre cmmn when the muth frms a smile.
Earlier studies shw peple ften link [i] vwels with psitive feelings. We guessed that [æ] vwels wuld appear mre in pain sunds, [i] vwels in jy, and central vwels like [ə] in dislike. T validate this, we cllected ver 600 emtinal interjectins frm 131 languages. We als gathered thusands f wrds frm thse languages t cmpare vwel use. In a secnd test, speakers f five languages made nn - wrd sunds t shw pain, jy and dislike. We measured their vwel use thrugh acustic(声学的) analysis.
Acrss languages, pain interjectins had mre [æ] - like vwels. Thugh jy and dislike interjectins varied, nnlinguistic vcalizatins shwed clear patterns: [æ] fr pain, [i] fr jy, and [ə] - like vwels fr dislike.
These results suggest that peple ften use similar sunds t express emtins, and pain may be expressed mst universally. This supprts the idea that sme wrds may have develped frm the sunds we naturally make.
      32. What des the recent study fcus n?
      A. The use f vwels in emtinal sunds.
      B. Why humans express emtins.
      C. Hw vwels develp glbally.
      D. The reasn fr peple using interjectins.
      33. What d researchers think f emtinal sunds?
      A. They vary frm culture t culture.B. They need special prnunciatin skills.
      C. They carry specific meanings.D. They reflect language learning.
      34. What des the underlined wrd "validate" in paragraph 5 prbably mean?
      A. Translate.B. Track.C. Categrize.D. Cnfirm.
      35. What des the discvery imply abut language?
      A. Vwels develp independently acrss cultures.
      B. Sme wrds may riginate frm natural sunds.
      C. Emtinal expressins shape language develpment.
      D. Emtinal sunds cnsistently cntain fixed meanings.
      第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
      根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。
T be funny is nt just talent but a skill that can be learned. Many peple believe humr is natural. Research, hwever, shws that funny peple actually practice techniques. Being funny matters. 36 Yet mst cmmn advice n humr sunds vague(含糊的). Suggestins like "listen carefully" r "be surprising" leave peple wndering hw t use them in real life. Frtunately, researchers and cmedians(喜剧演员) have prvided practical strategies.
One f the easiest techniques is t give the ppsite answer t yes/n questins. When peple expect "yes", a sudden "n" creates surprise and laughter. The magic is that the mment yu give the ppsite answer, yu have surprised yur audience, s they laugh. 37
The Rule f 3 is anther useful methd. 38 Fr example, "I lve ht dgs, hamburgers, and handsme men." The break in pattern catches attentin and creates humr. Similarly, switching character rles in a stry can als wrk. If the "serius" persn suddenly acts silly, r the "weak" ne becmes pwerful, the change surprises the audience.
39 Jkes may fail if the punchline(妙语) is weak, but true experiences are relatable. That is why many cmedians cllect daily bservatins and later share them. If the stry is nt funny, it still has meaning; if it is funny, the effect is even strnger. In daily life, yu can d the same: nte dwn things that made yu laugh and retell them naturally in cnversatin.
Finally, humr is als abut attitude. When yu are asked an awkward questin, turning it int humr shws cnfidence. Even a simple wrd like "whatever" can shift the fcus and make thers laugh. 40 Anyne can becme funnier thrugh practice.
      A. Then yu can mve n t yur real stry.
      B. In shrt, humr is nt a gift fr nly a few.
      C. The real - life stries are ften funnier than jkes.
      D. It explains why they ften make their jkes funny.
      E. Practicing humr requires bserving thers' mistakes carefully.
      F. It builds a pattern with tw nrmal items and ends with smething unexpected.
      G. It makes cnversatins easier, creates cnnectin, and ften reduces awkwardness.

I first started wearing glasses at age five. They were thick, black - framed, and many friends
said that I lked like Ralphie, a by in the mvie A Christmas Stry, always wearing thick glasses.
Sadly, they were right. Over the years, my nearsightedness wrsened, and my lenses(镜片)
became heavier. An bvius depressin frmed n the bridge f my nse frm the weight. I ften
jked that if the sun shne just right, I culd start frest fires.
In my twenties, I gt my first pair f thinner lenses. Wearing them felt like wearing nthing at
all. Later, plarized(偏光的) sunglasses made the wrld's clrs clearer than ever befre. I
thught I had finally seen life fully until my father went blind. Diagnsed(诊断) with macular
degeneratin, he ignred treatment advice and sn lst mst f his visin. Once active, nw he
culd nly sit in his chair.
An eye exam shwed a small spt f degeneratin in my eyes as well. At first, it seemed
minr, but the next year it affected bth eyes. Then came a cataract peratin, which helped, but
my visin prblems were far frm ver. Just befre retirement, I was diagnsed with myasthenia
gravis, a disease that weakens muscles including thse cntrlling the eyes. My eyelids became t
tired t stay pen, and unclear visin struck several times a day.
The final warning came at a neur - phthalmlgist's ffice. Cvering my left eye, I read the
chart—but a large black shadw blcked mst f my visin. Overnight, I became legally blind in
that eye. My fear f injectins(注射) was greater than the fear f blindness, yet the nly way t
save my sight was thrugh eye injectins.
Bth eyes needed treatment, and I wuld face fur injectins in ttal. My heart raced as I
imagined the prcess. I felt a mix f fear, determinatin, and hpe, knwing that these injectins
were my nly chance t keep seeing the wrld I lved.

      第二节(满分25分)
I made up my mind finally. I decided t face the injectins bravely. Every time befre the injectin, I wuld take a deep breath and tell myself that it was fr my visin. The first injectin was really scary. The needle seemed s lng and sharp. But I clenched my fists and endured it. After the first injectin, I felt a bit f pain, but I kept encuraging myself.
I began t ntice small imprvements in my visin. The black shadw in my left eye seemed t becme a little lighter. I was s excited. With each injectin, I culd see mre clearly. I als started t see the clrs arund me mre vividly. This made me mre determined t cmplete all the injectins. I knew that these small imprvements were the result f my curage and perseverance.
