Scientists have discvered that tamarin mnkeys use a specific tree resin (树脂) as medicine. In the Brazilian Atlantic Frest, scientists fllwed several grups f them t cllect data. In all, it takes less than 30 secnds. This icy vessel template is then encased in gelatin, a clear substance withut any taste. Shining ultravilet light n the gelatin hardens it as the ice melts away. What’s left are realistic-lking channels fr bld t mve thrugh.
S far, the Carnegie Melln team has tested the gel channels with endthelial cells. These are the cells that line the inner walls f bld vessels. In ne experiment, thse cells survived tw weeks lining the artificial vessels. This is prmising, but there is still a lng way t g befre such replacement vessels culd be transplanted int peple.
