She put her degree n hld and mved t Ohi, taking n the dangerus jb f analyzing unstable chemicals t prduce weapns.
After the war ended there was a fall in demand fr explsives, s she made a mve t the field f aernautics, mving t Califrnia t wrk fr NAA (Nrth American Aviatin). The nly wman ut f 900 engineers, she was sn prmted t a rle which invlved calculating the perfrmance f rcket prpellants (推进剂) and designing special fuels t wrk with different engines. Hwever, never having returned t cmplete her degree, she was nt affrded the rank r higher pay f an engineer, even thugh she had all the skills and knwledge f ne.
Her experience with prpellants meant that when NASA was tasked t find a fuel capable f lifting the redesigned Redstne missiles int space, Mgan was appinted technical lead n the prject. Apple, the iPhne maker, recently released an update t its iOS perating system. It has a new feature called Stlen Device Prtectin (SDP). The feature makes it a lt harder fr phne thieves t pen the device and access imprtant functins and settings.
Apple says the feature adds extra security fr users. It addresses a drawback that thieves have used t lck device wners ut f their Apple accunts, delete their phts and ther files frm their iClud, and take mney frm their bank accunts.
SDP keeps track f a user’s “familiar lcatins”, such as their hme r wrkplace. It als reduces the imprtance f passwrds. Instead, it favrs “bimetric”(生物识别的)features such as faces r fingerprints, which are a lt harder t cpy.
If a thief tries t erase r reset an iPhne, the device will require a Face ID r Tuch ID scan t cnfirm that the persn is the rightful wner. The new feature des nt let smene use the passwrd r any ther backup methd.
Anther part f the new feature is designed t slw dwn thieves trying t change security settings. Fr example, if smene tries t sign ut f an Apple ID accunt, change the passwrd r reset the phne in an unfamiliar lcatin, they will have t authenticate(证实)by using Face ID r Tuch ID, wait an hur, and then d a secnd facial r fingerprint scan.
Changing an Apple ID passwrd, updating Apple ID security settings, adding r remving Face r Tuch ID, and turning ff the Find My device feature r Stlen Device Prtectin als will lead t this feature.
28. What is the functin f paragraph 1?

C. An Apple ID accunt.D. Identity cnfirmatin.
31. What des the passage mainly talk abut?

Jasn, a straight-A student frm the University f Pennsylvania, uses the term “pseud-wrking” t describe hw many f us study. The pseud-wrker lks and feels like smene wh is wrking hard — he r she spends a lng time in the library and is nt afraid t push n late int the night — but, because f a lack f fcus and cncentratin, he r she desn’t actually accmplish much.
This phenmenn can be seen in mst clleges. Fr example, at Dartmuth there was a sectin f the main library that was pen twenty-fur hurs a day and the students I used t see in there late at night crwded in grups, drinking cffee, were definitely pseud-wrking.
By placing themselves in distracting envirnments and insisting n wrking lng hurs, these students are damaging their brain’s ability t think clearly and efficiently t accmplish the task at hand. In the end they get half the results with twice the effrt.
The bigger prblem here is that mst students dn’t even realize that they’re pseud-wrking. T them pseud-wrking is wrk — it’s hw they’ve always dne it, and it’s hw all f their friends d it. It never crsses their mind that there might be a better way. Straight-A students, n the ther hand, knw all abut pseud-wrking. They fear it, and fr gd reasn it nt nly wastes time, but it’s als mentally tiring.
In fact, the mst imprtant skill in becming a better student is the ability t get wrk dne quickly and with a minimum f wasted effrt. Sme cgnitive science research cncludes that abut 50 minutes is the ptimal learning perid t maximize the material learned per time unit.
S hw can students manage t study efficiently? One key factr is in the fllwing simple frmula: wrk accmplished = time spent×intensity f fcus. Pseud-wrking features a very lw intensity f fcus. Therefre, t accmplish smething by pseud-wrking, yu need t spend a lt f time. The straight-A student maximizes f fcus in rder t minimize time.
32. Which f the fllwing phenmenn is an example f pseud-wrking?
A. Tm is busy taking ntes while attending a lecture.
B. Alice and Sara are sitting n the sfa reading their favrite bks.
C. Mike is sitting in the study rm in preparatin fr a final exam quietly.
D. Jack spends a lng time in the library n his essay while listening t music.
33. What can be inferred frm paragraph 3 and 4?
A. Negative effects f pseud-wrking are nt fully realized by many students.
B. T much thinking may weaken the brain’s ability f the students.
C. Straight-A students believe sme tasks are wrth twice the effrt.
D. Students will get gd grades nce they realize that pseud-wrking is ineffective.
34. What des the underlined wrd “ptimal’ mean in paragraph 5?
A. fast.B. best.C. least.D. effective.
35. Why des the authr mentin the frmula in the text?
A. T shw the benefit f wrking hard.
B. T prve the necessity f accmplishing wrk.
C. T emphasize the imprtance f cncentratin.
D. T explain the reasn fr spending much time.

I’m writing t share my views n using AI t assist with hmewrk. AI is undubtedly a useful tl that prvides instant feedback and enriches learning resurces, which can bst study efficiency . Hwever, it risks becming a substitute fr thinking if verused, harming ur ability t think independently.
