“It is well realized that learning t frgive thers can have psitive benefits fr ne’s physical and mental health,” Saima Nreen, a scientist at the University f St. Andrews, the UK, tld the Huffingtn Pst.
Recently, Nreen and her research team have fund ne mre reasn that yu shuld stick t this principle — frgiving smebdy wh has hurt yu makes it easier fr yu t frget the unhappy memry, accrding t their new study.
In the study, researchers asked vlunteers t read descriptins f 40 different situatins that cntained bad actins such as stealing, lying and cheating. Imagining being the victims (受害者), vlunteers then had t decide whether they wuld be able t frgive. Tw weeks later, vlunteers tk part in a memry test. In the test, they were shwn a number f wrds related t the situatins they had read abut and then were asked t remember certain nes.
The results shwed that peple were less likely t remember the details f the unpleasant experiences if they had fund frgiveness in their hearts. In cntrast, if they hadn’t frgiven the mistake, they culd always remember what had happened.
