Tday was a wnderful day because I finally saw the Qiantang tidal bre (钱塘江大潮)! After I learnt abut it frm a Chinese class, I dreamt f seeing this great natural wnder.
My parents and I chse a dam (水坝) in Hangzhu t watch the tidal bre. We wke up early, ate breakfast, and hurried t the dam. When we arrived at the dam, it was still a lng time befre the tidal bre came. My mum tk ut her phne, and we saw a live bradcast (直播) f the tidal bre.
Arund 11:10 a. m., the tides arrived at the Tashan Dam in Haining City. They battered (连续猛击) the dam. By 12:00 p. m., the tidal bre mved quickly twards the Layancang Dam. At 1:30 p. m., the tidal bre finally arrived at the dam where we were. We kept ur eyes n the tides. The tides made many changes. Sme reached several metres high. They were quite a sight. Great cheers went up frm the crwd frm time t time.
When seeing the tidal bre, we felt amazed and a little bit afraid f it. But we als learnt that sme peple had chsen t ride the waves. As early as the Suthern Sng Dynasty, sme peple jumped int the pwerful waves and played. The peple f the time called them Nng Cha Er. Tday, we have the tidal surfing cmpetitin (冲浪比赛) fr peple t have fun n the Qiantang River every year.
