Even in areas far frm human activities, insect ppulatins are declining rapidly, with climate change likely being the main cause. This finding cmes frm a new research at the University f Nrth Carlina at Chapel Hill.
The study, published in Eclgy jurnal, measured flying insect numbers ver 15 summers between 2004 and 2024 in a remte muntain meadw in Clrad. Weather data frm a nearby statin cvering 40 years supprted his findings.

Their decline culd affect the entire fd chain, frm birds and frgs that eat insects t larger animals and humans wh depend n creatures that cnsume bugs. Larsn hpes peple will take these findings seriusly, recgnizing that insects play a vital rle in supprting all life n Earth.
      32. Hw did the researchers study the insect ppulatins?
      A. By ding lab experiments.B. By analysing the cllected data.

      C. Weather data shwed immediate effects.D. Remte areas escaped the impact f climate change.
      35. What is Larsn’s attitude twards the insect decline?

Why d yu ask?” she replied. I explained, “That’s where Mike, the new by in ur class, is frm.”
She ndded and invited me t fetch the gegraphy bk tgether. It was a large hardcver bk, which my mther always stred n the bttm shelf f ur bkcase. I watched as she skillfully turned t the index (索引) and then t a page near the middle. “Here we are,” she said, turning the bk arund s I culd see the map clearly. I lked at the “ITALY” printed in bld capitals. We read the intrductin t the cuntry, gaining a deeper understanding f Italy—nt nly its lcatin and histry, but als its famus cultural landmarks and cking delights. Fr instance, we knew hw pizza came frm Naples and hw Italy is als the hmeland f pasta (意大利面).
I said t my mum, “Mike’s parents wrk dwntwn and are always extremely busy. He rarely eats n time, nt t mentin enjying a hme-cked meal. I really hpe we can make his first picnic with us a happy and memrable ne.” I stpped, watching her expressin carefully. I was wrried she might think my idea silly r a waste f mney. Hwever, she didn’t. Instead, she replied delightedly, “What a wnderful idea! Since we were just lking at Italy in the map, why nt make sme classic Italian dishes fr him, like pizza r pasta? G get ready, and we’ll g fr a big shp!”
