Residents may be wrking multiple jbs r facing hardships that make a trip t the library an additinal stress. Requirements f identificatin, fines and fees, all while seemingly nrmal, can becme difficult fr families facing hardships.
Therefre, I’m making bks appear in everyday places in extrardinary ways. I fix free public bk vending machines (自助售书机), hst street-crner stry activities, and pp up n the blck with free bkstres, s kids wh dn’t have McDnald’s mney dn’t have t wrry abut having bk-fair mney. Certain values carry mre weight in spring and autumn than in summer and winter. As leaves fall, snw sweeps in r flwers blssm, humans change in measurable ways, t. Research suggests that emtins, eating habits, and even favrite clrs vary acrss the year. And nw a study in the Prceedings f the Natinal Academy f Sciences USA shws hw mral values can als change.
Fr the study, researchers examined ver 230,000 nline surveys cllected ver ten years, mainly frm Americans, with smaller grups in Canada, Australia, and the U.K.. The surveys used a scial science mdel called “mral fundatin s thery (道德基础理论)” which identifies five cre values guiding human behavir. These include lyalty (staying true t ne’s wn grup), authrity (respecting leaders and rules), and purity (aviding wrngding), classified as “grup-fcused values” as they help cmmunities stay cnnected. The remaining tw—care (prtecting thers frm harm) and fairness (treating peple equally)—are termed “self-fcused values” cncerning persnal rights.
One explanatin fr seasnal changes culd be anxiety (焦虑). Data frm 90,000 surveys and internet searches indicate that anxiety peaks in spring and autumn. Psychlgist Brian O’ Shea explains, “Anxiety makes peple feel threatened, leading them t distrust utsiders and seek safety within their wn grups.” These emtinal shifts culd affect nt nly everyday decisins but als brader scial events such as curt decisins, electins, r public health plicies.
Hwever, experts say the data mstly cme frm rich Western cuntries. Psychlgist Ivry Tldsn warns that while these findings wrk fr wealthy grups, they may nt be true fr marginalized nes facing different prblems. B. Prmting respect fr mral rules.
C. Increasing fcus n persnal rights.
D. Influencing scial decisin-making.

Mars has fascinated peple since ancient times, and tday ur interest in Martian explratin is greater than ever befre. Since the 1960s, we have been sending unmanned spacecraft t Mars. 49 Our rbts have explred the Martian surface, testing the sil and searching fr resurces, water and signs f life.
Hwever, sending peple there will require all the skills, curage and intelligence f the human race. While the Mn can be reached within days, it wuld take mnths t reach Mars, travelling thrugh dangerus slar radiatin. And even if the first settlers d reach Mars safely, they may nt be able t return t earth ever. 50 As early as the 1980s, scientists were building Bisphere -2 in the Arizna desert, cnsisting f a clsed space in which peple, animals and plants culd live tgether. Althugh the tw-year experiment was a failure, it did prvide us with a better understanding f hw humans might be able t live n anther planet.
Anyway, human settlement f Mars is still decades away. In the meantime, scientific research shws that the planet Earth is getting warmer. This change is being caused by human activity and is having a terrible effect n the glbe. 51

B. Right nw, it’s the nly ne we have.
C. One ptin is t explre ther planets t see if we culd live n them.
D. Staying alive will be a daily challenge, but isn’t impssible, as prved by scientists.
E. Tday, hwever, envirnmental prblems have taken ver as the greatest risk t life n Earth.
