What started ff as smething creative that I culd share with friends turned int cmpetitin changed by feelings f incmpetence.
Oftentimes, hbbies begin as smething just fr fun. But eventually, what was nce fun nw cntributes t feelings f stress and inadequacy. I have plenty f memries f thinking I was ging t pick up smething new and stick with it, whether it be playing the pian, r drawing. But there is always a part f me that expects myself t just magically be gd at all f thse things. And when I’m nt, the enjyment tapers ff as, slwly, I think medicrity (平庸) isn’t acceptable anymre.
Writing is the nly hbby that I have repeatedly cme back t despite drpping it cnstantly. I can see the grwth in my writing all these years, but the expectatins t be better and better is never satisfied. This is why I drp writing fr mnths at a time. This feeling f a hbby becming, fr a lack f better wrd, a chre, lwers the satisfactin f said hbby.
But hbbies are there t give yu a breath f fresh air frm having t excel at everything, frm academics t yur ccupatin. We must accept that it is kay t just suck at an activity but still ding it because it brings yu jy. There is a balance between jy and expectatins, either set by thers r by urselves.

Scientists had lng therized that butterflies’ false heads arse because five key traits (特征)-namely false feelers, nticeable clratin, wing patterns that cntain special lines, large spts, and headlike shapes-evlve (进化) tgether t redirect predatr attentin. But n ne had traced the evlutinary histry f these traits.
Evlutinary eclgists at IISER began by analyzing images f nearly 1000 species f butterflies and marking hw many f the false head traits each species exhibited. The researchers then cnstructed a phylgenetic tree (系统树), which allwed them t visualize hw clsely related false-headed species were t ne anther, as well as hw each f the traits evlved ver time. Cmputatinal mdeling f this tree revealed that fur f the five false head traits all evlved in a crrelated manner, while als shwing the rder in which the traits first appeared within butterflies.
The researchers prpse that the separate traits integrated int a single, cmplex false head trait because f a cmmn selective frce: attacks frm hunters. Hwever, questins remain n the exact advantages that these distinctive defense mechanisms prvide t the butterflies that use them.

C. They innvated methds f studying butterflies.
D. They analyzed the survival benefits f false heads.
35. What can be a suitable title fr the text?
A. T Survive? Fake a Secnd Head!
B. Cnfused? Phylgenetic Tree Helps!

The smell f rasted chicken filled the kitchen as we gathered fr ur usual Friday dinner. Having swallwed a big muthful f chicken, I tk a deep breath and began, "Culd I invite sme friends ver tmrrw? Just fr the afternn?"
My parents exchanged a glance, then ndded readily. But beside me, my yunger sister, Lily, frze. Her wide eyes lcked nt mine. "But... what abut Miracle? She’ll be terrified, Ethan."
Miracle was a cat Lily rescued n a rainy day last winter. True t her name, the cat had survived. Yet, it remained a creature f prfund shyness: Lud vices sent her trembling under beds; sudden mvements made her jump. She wasn’t just a pet; she was a fragile sul Lily fiercely prtected.
"I prmise, Lily," I insisted, leaning frward, meeting her wrried gaze (凝视). "We’ll stay in the living rm. N lud music, n shuting games. I’ll keep the back dr shut tight, and I’ll warn everyne t be quiet. Miracle wn’t even knw they’re here. " I saw the cnflict in her eyes - her desire t be supprtive warring with her deep cncern fr the pr cat. After a tense silence, she finally gave a small, reluctant nd.
Saturday arrived with sunshine and laughter as my friends piled in. True t my wrd, I guided them straight t the living rm, reminding them firmly abut Miracle’s sensitivity. Initially, we chatted, played cards quietly. Glancing arund, I sptted Miracle sliding silently dwn the hallway twards Lily’s rm. Gd, she’s keeping her distance, I thught, relieved.
As the afternn wre n, hwever, the initial cautin disappeared. A cmpetitive bard game led t enthusiastic cheers and laughter. Lst in the sheer fun f being with my friends, I frgt everything–the prmise, the fragile creature.
After friends departed with cheerful gdbyes, I began tidying empty glasses, still lst in the happy scenes when Lily burst thrugh the frnt dr int her rm. Then came her scream, "Ethan. Miracle is gne."
