The Super Bwl party was nt just a ne-ff. The next year Kalmansn set up the charitable rganizatin: Super Sul Parties. With the help f a vlunteer netwrk and hmeless shelters, Kalmansn rganizes the gatherings and prvides rides fr guests n game days in cities arund the cuntry. A majr ice shelf in Antarctica appears t have survived a perid f ht temperatures mre than 120,000 years ag, indicating that West Antarctic ice sheets may nt be as much at risk as we thught. “It’s gd news and it’s bad news,” says Eric Wlf at the University f Cambridge, UK. “We didn’t get the wrst case. But I can’t say this wuldn’t happen in the next century r tw.”
Wlff and his clleagues bserved the Rnne ice shelf, a large sectin f the ice sheet that extends int the cean, t see hw it behaved between 117,000 and 126,000 years ag. During that time, changes in Earth’s rbit raised Antarctic temperatures even higher than they are tday.
T determine the extent f the Rnne ice shelf during that warm perid, the researchers measured cncentratins (浓度) f sea salt in an ice cre drilled abut 650 kilmetres away frm the shelf’s edge. If the ice shelf had melted during the warm perid, its edge wuld have drawn clser t the cre’s lcatin. As a result, the researchers expected salt cncentratins in the cre wuld rise eight times during thse years, because the cre’s lcatin wuld have been
much clser t the pen cean.
Instead, they fund salt cncentratins were similar r even lwer than thse f tday, indicating that the edge f the ice sheet remained far away. The ice’s stability at that time suggests a lwer pssibility that the West Antarctic ice sheet will fall apart as climate change drives up glbal temperatures. “It implies there was nt a cmplete melting f western Antarctica, but it desn’t give us enugh infrmatin t relax,” says Wlff. “The survival f the Rnne ice shelf desn’t mean that ther areas f ice, like the Thwaites r Pine Island glaciers didn’t melt.”
The dynamics f warming in that warm perid, which varied by regin, are als different frm glbal warming tday, when temperatures are rising acrss the whle planet. Fr example, warmer cean waters reaching Antarctica culd speed up melt by advancing under the ice.
What happened arund 120,000 years ag accrding t the first tw paragraphs?
The Rnne ice shelf disappeared.B. Antarctic was warmer than tday.
C. Earth’s rbit was raised higher than tday.D. West Antarctic ice sheets expanded.
Why did the researchers measure the salt cncentratin in the ice cre?
T define the range f the Rnne ice shelf.B. T calculate the density f cean waters.
C. T analyze ancient cean temperatures.D. T track the mvement f the Rnne ice shelf.
What des the ice cre salt cncentratin imply?
Lwer cncentratin indicates a larger shelf.B. Lwer cncentratin causes a faster ice melting.
C. Higher cncentratin suggests a clder cean.D. Higher cncentratin brings a warmer climate.
What des the survival f the Rnne ice shelf suggest?
The ice in ther regins remained stable.
The climate mdels were the same then as nw.
The West Antarctic ice sheet is less likely t melt.
The mst dangerus perid f the West Antarctic ice sheet has passed.

Psychlgical well-being (心理健康) is mre widely recgnized, with mre treatments and prfessinals invlved. 16 Here are sme helpful strategies fr yu t find the right supprt.
Examine the surce. Scial media gives everyne a platfrm t share infrmatin, which can be beneficial in nrmalizing prblems with well-being. Hwever, just because smene has their wn experience f smething
yu’re struggling with, des nt mean they are experienced in wrking with this in thers. 17
Analyse qualificatins. While nline curses and qualificatins prvide greater access t health industry training, much fake infrmatin still exists in the industry. 18 When appraching thse wh prmte their
prfessinal supprt, seek easily available evidence f recgnized qualificatins, and make sure they’re willing t explain these t yu.
19 In tday’s quick-fix culture, we ften expect prblems t be treated with immediate effect. But we
shuld be cautius abut anything prmising a speedy slutin, r that sunds t gd t be true. Human psychlgy is highly cmplex, and the patterns that tie each f us up in emtinal knts are as invisible t us as water t a fish. It takes time t understand and change these.
There is n silver bullet. There is n single cure that can slve all f ur prblems, and thse wh claim that there is might be ignring the cmplexity invlved in being human. Surely, marketing campaigns will cntinue singing the praises f their prducts and services. 20 Instead, evaluate the ptins carefully accrding t
yur unique needs. This enables yu t make infrmed chices fr lasting well-being.
Dn’t trust quick fixes.
Hwever, it’s hard t knw wh t trust.
S watch ut fr the claim that ne slutin fits all.
This enables peple t easily find qualified prfessinals.
This makes it difficult fr peple t knw if a cnsultant is qualified.
Researching what actually qualifies smene t give advice is essential befre taking it.
Many cnsultants have qualificatins in psychlgy t handle varius emtinal prblems.
