On the cntrary, lw-cntext cultures expect the cntent f cmmunicatin t be evidently stated s that there’s n risk f cnfusin, and if a message isn’t clear enugh, it
will slw dwn the prcess f cmmunicatin. In the mst extreme cases, leaving any srt f wiggle rm fr interpretatin can be catastrphic(灾难性的). Althugh it can be a cmplex characteristic whether a culture is high-cntext r lw-cntext, it can determine many ther aspects f a particular culture. Fr example, in a high-cntext culture, similarity is an crucial characteristic. This is because the majrity f the ppulatin in high-cntext cultures typically have the same level f educatin, as well as a shared ethnicity, religin, and histry. Thrugh these shared experiences, messages can be cntextualized by assuming an audience will think in the same way and fllw the hidden message in smene’s speech r writing. In lw-cntext cultures, the ppsite is true. Lw-cntext cultures are usually diverse, and fcus n the individual, instead f the grup. Cmmunicatin must be basic enugh t allw fr as many peple t understand it as pssible.
Just as cmmunicatin in general is different fr high-cntext and lw-cntext cultures, the frms f cmmunicatin als vary. Generally, high-cntext cultures prefer ral cmmunicatin, while lw-cntext cultures favr written cmmunicatin. When it cmes t emails, texts, and nline messaging, it is mre cmmn t send brief and frequent messages in lw-cntext cultures. Lw-cntext cultures als want the cmmunicatin t fcus n basic questins, like: What’s happening? Where’s it happening? When’s it ging t happen? Hw’s it ging t happen? High-cntext cultures will tend t mve in the ther directin, with a fcus n lnger frms f cmmunicatin that dn’t always fcus n basic questins.#1.4

33.What d the underlined wrds “wiggle rm” in paragraph 2 mean?( )
A.The freedm t make changes.B.The need fr additinal knwledge.C.The chance t reject dialgues.D.The desire fr less cnfusin.
【解析】根据第二段中的 “lw-cntext cultures expect the cntent f cmmunicatin t be evidently stated s that there’s n risk f cnfusin, and if a message isn’t clear enugh, it will slw dwn the prcess f cmmunicatin”可知,低语境文化期待沟通的内容能够被清晰地表达以避免困惑,且任何不清楚的信息都可能会影响沟通。 故选A项。
      34.Why d high-cntext cultures pssess the feature f similarity?( )
A.Persnal interests give way t grup interests.B.Speakers seek t make themselves fully understd.C.Individuals try t narrw differences and bridge gaps.D.Cllective experiences shape the same way f thinking.
【解析】根据第三段中的“This is because the majrity f the ppulatin in high-cntext cultures typically have the same level f educatin, as well as a shared... Thrugh these shared experiences, messages can be cntextualized by assuming an audience will think in the same way... in smene’s speech r writing.”
      35.Hw d high-cntext and lw-cntext cultures differ in the frms f cmmunicatin?( )
A.High-cntext cultures pursue pliteness.B.High-cntext cultures barely chat nline.C.Lw-cntext cultures care abut the results.D.Lw-cntext cultures prefer simple exchanges.
