With these changes, up t 10-26% f ttal cereal prductin and 17 millin tns f fish culd be redirected frm animal feed t human use. “That may nt sund like a lt, but that’s fd fr up t abut ne billin peple!” says Aalt’s Vilma Sandström, the first authr f the study.
Sme f the changes, such as feeding crp residues t livestck, wuld lead t a drp in livestck prductivity. Anther challenge is that the human edible fd currently used in livestck prductin and aquaculture is different frm the fd peple are used t.
