      A Chinese space mining (采矿) cmpany has designed a rbt that can catch waste material left behind by spacecraft in uter space with a big net.
      The state-run Xinhua News Agency reprted that the rbt launched n the gvernment’s Lng March 6 rcket alng with several satellites. The rbt will als investigate deep space t bserve small bjects in the universe. The 30-kilgram rbt, called NEO-01, was develped by Origin Space. Funded in 2019 and based in the suthern Chinese tech hub Shenzhen, Origin Space has been dedicated t explring and using space resurces, accrding t the cmpany. The cmpany says the rbt will lead the way in future technlgy capable f mining n asterids (小行星).
      The wrld’s first asterid mining cmpany, Planetary Resurces, Inc was established in 2010. Since then, mre than 12 businesses arund the wrld have entered the industry, including 3D Systems f the United States and Japan’s Astrscale. Astrscale’s technlgy uses magnets (磁铁) t gather up space waste. But a reprt n the Origin Space website says NEO-01 will use a net t catch waste and then burn it.       Su Meng is the funder f Origin Space. He said the cmpany plans t launch many space telescpes and mre spacecraft t begin the first fr-prfit mining f asterids by 2045.
