I have been in a dwnturn in the past few weeks, largely due t my ADHD (Attentin Deficit Hyperactivity Disrder) drugs running ut. This has made it hard fr me t imprve mtivatin fr tasks, including the gym. But I had an epiphany last week nce I finally wrked ut: Cutting dwn n exercise was making matters wrse. Physical activity may, in fact, be the best way fr me t fight against my ADHD symptms while I wait fr a new prescriptin (处方)。
My mind is always a bit quieter after a wrkut than it was befre, in a similar way t when I take my medicatins. This makes sense. Mst ADHD drugs wrk by raising levels f a brain chemical called nradrenaline This essentially activates ur bdy fr actin by imprving fcus, memry and impulse cntrl. Levels f it als increase threefld during exercise.
That isn’t t say I am ready t give up my medicatins. Results are mixed in the studies available n exercise and ADHD.A 2023 review f 106 studies indicated that exercise significantly imprves impulse cntrl, attentin and the ability t switch between tasks in yung children and adlescents with ADHD.Hwever, it had a weak effect n regulating emtins and wrking memry. The benefits seem t be even less prnunced fr adults. In anther study last year,10 minutes f exercise was shwn t imprve impulse cntrl in 82 adults with the cnditin, yet had n effect n ther ADHD symptms.
While these findings suggest exercise has nly a mdest effect n ADHD, they d emphasize hw wrking ut has ther benefits in additin t physical nes.
Physical activity appears t be prtective. A 2018 study f ver 1.2 millin adults fund that thse wh exercised experienced 43 percent fewer days f pr mental health, n average, than thse wh didn’t. The link was strngest fr team sprts, cycling, and aerbic (有氧的) and gym activities. Exercising fr 45 minutes three t five times a week als seemed t be the sweet spt. Mre wasn’t always better.
As fr me, I am relieved t have discvered a strategy fr keeping my ADHD symptms partly at bay withut medicatins. Even thugh breaking a sweat is the last thing I want t d when I am verwhelmed r in a dwnturn, I nw realize hw critical it is t priritize it.
49.What des the phrase “an epiphany” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A.A new medicine.B.A sudden realizatin.
C.A refreshing break.D.An unexpected pleasure.
50.Hw des physical activity ptentially help with ADHD symptms?
A.It has n effect n ADHD symptms in adults.
B.It imprves physical health rather than mental health.
C.It lifts levels f a brain chemical similar t medicatins.
D.It cmpletely replaces the need fr ADHD medicatins.
51.In the 2023 review, what is the effect f exercise n adults with ADHD?
A.It is less nticeable fr adults. B.It is ineffective against attentin.
C.It imprves impulse cntrl in adults. D.It has a strng impact n all symptms.
52.What is inferred frm the authr’s persnal exercise experience?
A.Exercise eliminates the necessity fr medicatin.
B.Exercise barely helps relieve his mental disrder.
C.Exercise is crucial t managing ADHD symptms.
D.Exercise is nly beneficial when dne in mderatin.

New research reveals that “intensive dmain-specific training” like mathematics fundamentally reshapes brain activity during cmplex prblem slving, ffering insights int the cgnitive neurscience (认知神经科学) f cncentratin. A study published in Cgnitive Neurscience cmpared graduate students in math-related fields with peers in nn-mathematical fields t investigate hw lng-term specialized practice influences thinking prcesses.
Participants watched vide demnstratins f multi-step mathematical prblems while wearing brain-wave-mnitring caps t track brain activity. The study fund clear differences: nn-math students’ frnt brain areas (linked t memry and fcus) wrked harder as they struggled t fllw lgical steps. In cntrast, math-intensive students displayed synchrnized (同步的) slw brain waves cnnecting the frntal and upper-back brain areas, which are respnsible fr abstract reasning and spatial prcessing. These slw brain rhythms, typically bserved during deep sleep, appeared t facilitate efficient cmmunicatin between distant neural netwrks during intense fcus.
These findings indicate that repeated expsure t cmplex prblem slving allws math-trained students t autmate basic lgical steps (e.g. frmula applicatin), which saves mental energy fr cmplex analysis. This “neural efficiency” — the brain’s adaptability thrugh training — mirrrs patterns in ther experts: experienced musicians’ brains shw similar slw waves when cmpsing and athletes enter similar “flw states” during cmpetitins. Mst imprtantly, researchers cnfirm such neural efficiency isn’t inbrn but develps thrugh deliberate practice. Students with equal IQs but less math training lacked these distinctive wave patterns. Hwever, thse wh engaged in repetitin and intentinal study eventually develped such patterns, becming mre efficient in slving prblems.
By the same lgic, these findings hint at a trade-ff that peple shuld keep in mind particularly as artificial intelligence (AI) and ther tls ffer tempting shrtcuts fr varius frms f prblem slving. Dr. Elena Trres, lead researcher f the study, further warns that ver-reliance n AI might weaken ur brain’s natural prblem-slving abilities. “Each time we ff-lad a prblem t a calculatr r ask AI t summarize an essay, we are lsing an pprtunity t imprve ur wn skills and practise deep cncentratin fr urselves.” Trres urges “a strategic balance — use AI fr repetitive labr, thanks t its fast data prcessing and cntinuus peratin, but reserve cmplex challenges fr deep, tech-free fcus.”
53.What was the main purpse f the new research?
A.T study hw specialized training affects brains.
B.T investigate hw AI tls influence learning.
C.T cmpare brain activity amng math experts.
D.T measure IQ levels acrss different specialists.
54.Hw did nn-math students’ brains differ frm thse f math students in cmplex prblem slving?
A.Their frnt-tp parts wrked tgether. B.They shwed randm sleep-like waves.
C.Their frnt area wrked with extra effrt. D.They prcessed infrmatin autmatically.
55.What is crucial t develping “neural efficiency” accrding t the text?
A.Lng-term fcused practice. B.Inbrn abstract reasning talent.
C.Randm expsure t cmplex prblems. D.Training n memrizing basic lgical steps.
56.What d Dr. Elena Trres’ qutes highlight in the last paragraph?
A.AI tls limit independent learning pprtunities.
B.Technlgy imprves efficiency in cmplex tasks.
C.Overusing shrtcuts harms cgnitive develpment.
D.AI tls reduce mtivatin fr deep cncentratin.

If we think abut hw ur life in the future will be, keeping in mind the advancement in science, we will be amazed but als there is a majr matter f cncern, because with the amunt f resurce explitatin and pllutin it is unavidable that the after-effects are wrse in the cming years. Fr tday’s discussin, let’s fast frward ur life t let us say fifty years frm nw and analyze hw ur life will be in ur future.
Let us first discuss the psitive sides f the future in every field. Fd which has always been ur surce f energy has als undergne many imprvements and new inventins, frm hybrids (杂交植物) t grwing plants in LED lights. We may get adapted t genetically imprved plants as a slutin t feed peple due t the increasing ppulatin.
Speaking abut the future f wrk, it will n mre be humans sitting in frnt f machines fr hurs and hurs t earn a living. But instead, autmatin will be leading the shw wiping ut the need fr human effrt. Nt just in the industry wrld, autmatin, and mst likely advanced rbts autmatin and rbts with advanced technlgy will be installed fr better and faster perfrmance. The majr advantage f an increase in technlgy will be t the health department. It has helped t increase the birth rate.
Technlgy in the future will be way superir t that f tday, even better than ther fields like fd, health, cnnectins, and wrk. We’re ging int a future where imprved battery innvatin will prbably empwer better electric vehicles, individual flying machines and ther applicatins.
With this, we can say that with advancements made by man, there will be ppulatin grwth, increasing pllutin, and fewer resurces available fr everyne t accmmdate (容纳). I wuld like t add the final pints that, the future is unpredictable, while this may r may nt, but it is always gd t prepare urselves fr things t cme ahead in time.

60.What is the authr’s pinin f the future?
A.It is dminated by autmatin.B.Our initiatives fr it are necessary.
C.It is certain t be full f prblems.D.Technlgy will slve mst prblems.

He began his search t create better vegetable seeds t help farmers in Sutheast Asia in1981. Sixteen years earlier, he had made his first trip t Indnesia. There, Grt learned that vegetable seeds which were develped fr the climate f Eurpe, did prly when planted in the ht trpics. He thught there was a great pssibility t intrduce hybrid vegetables t the area. The area lacked vegetable seed develpers wh were trying t create hybrids fr the lcal climate. “I nticed the seed quality in that part f wrld was s much belw ur standards and belw achievable standards. I culd nt stand that the farmers there did nt have better seeds.”Said Grt.
At that time, farmers in Sutheast Asia usually saved seeds frm seasn t seasn. That was because the seeds available fr sale were ften ld. Thse seeds were usually frm Eurpe r Nrth America and did nt grw well in their trpical climate. This meant that the farmers ended up with smaller crps, and lwer quality that changed greatly frm seasn t seasn. The plant als culd easily becme infected with diseases.
Grt partnered with seed trader Benit Dming f the Philippines. They put tgether a team f seed researchers and grwers frm Wageninge University in the Netherlands and the University f the Philippines. Within a few years, they develped a hybrid bitter gurd (苦瓜) that sld successfully. Then they mdified a tmat plant, fllwed by eggplants, pumpkins and leafy vegetables.
The early success led t the start f the East-West Seed Cmpany, which nw has mre than 970 imprved seeds f 60 vegetable crps. Over the past 40 years, the discveries have led t the creatin f a trpical vegetable seed industry aimed at small farmers. The trpical seeds are nw spreading int Asia, Africa and Latin America. It is estimated that the cmpany’s seeds are used by 20 millin farmers each year in mre than 60 cuntries.
61.Why was Grt awarded the 2019 Wrld Fd Prize ? (N mre than 10 wrds.)
62.What’s the main idea f Paragraph 2?(n mre than 10 wrds)

A. precisely精确地;B. frequently频繁地;C. respectively分别地;D. frtunately幸运地。 故选A项。
10.A
as 通常用于“such…as”或“s…as”结构中,但在这个句子中,它不符合语法结构。故选A。
11.A
If yur friendship is apprached in this way,当状语从句主语和主句主语一致,且从句含有be动词时,可将从句主语和be动词省略,故选A。
12.A

13.C
A. cme up with提出,想出;B. get a lad f仔细看看,打量;C. sing high praise fr高度赞扬;D. fcus yurself n专注于。根据“Yu will knw what a great bike is like”可知,是要仔细看约翰的新自行车才能知道好自行车是什么样的,“get a lad f”符合语境。故选B。

16.C

Quantities f fd (nuts) were n the table.
A large quantity f beer was sld ut.
A large quantity f bluses were n sale.
此处sitting是现在分词作定语,修饰主语the wman,表示与主语之间是主动和进行的关系;be dressed in穿着,强调状态,作定语,省去了 be;seat 的意思是“使坐下”,及物动词,表示就坐时,有两种:be seated (n the chair /n beach/n the bed ……),seat neself (n the chair/n bench /n the bed……),故选B。
