The Pygmalin effect was first discvered in the classrm by Rbert Rsenthal. But yu can find its effects everywhere. Nw, we are ging t study the Pygmalin effect using a famus experiment in the army designed by Prfessr Dv Eden.
It was a 15-week army curse where 105 sldiers were assigned t 4 instructrs. A few days befre the start f the prgram, each instructr received sme files, including the trainees’ psychlgical test scres, grades in previus curses, and ratings given by previus cmmanders. Based n the infrmatin, researchers predicted the cmmand ptential (CP) f each sldier and then designated (指定) each trainee as having either a high, regular r unknwn CP scre. Sldiers f all 3 CP levels were divided equally amng the 4 training classes.
It’s imprtant t knw that, at the time, these 4 instructrs didn’t knw that the CP classificatin — the perfrmance scre n the list they received — was cmpletely stchastic. In ther wrds, the sldier listed as having the highest CP scre culd very well be the wrst sldier in the grup.
After 15 weeks, the 105 sldiers were tested in 4 different areas. It was fund that sldiers wh had been marked with a high CP scre significantly utperfrmed their classmates in all 4 subjects. Thse with an average CP scre ended up in the lwest. The third grup — thse with an unknwn CP scre — ended up in the middle. The difference in perfrmance between the best and the wrst grup was even 15 percent.
After detailed analysis, it shwed that the fake CP scres explained almst three-quarters f the variance in perfrmance. In ther wrds, if a superir believes his subrdinates (部下) have the ability t be great perfrmers, their actual perfrmance will increase. “As sn as the instructrs believed that sme sldiers had better abilities than thers, they started managing thse individuals differently. Just imagine thse instructrs spending mre time with ‘prmising’ sldiers, stressing successes, shwing best practices, and teaching them hw t deal with stressful situatins. All these kick-start psitive effects,” Eden said.
      8. What can we learn abut Dv Eden’s experiment?

先行词是a symbl f bravery and strength,在从句中作主语,且先行词指物,所以用关系代词which引导从句。故填which。
故填were presented。
故填as。
这里指代前面提到的“the Suthern Lin Dance”,作主语,所以用it。故填it。
