If yu seek happiness, then yu need t knw what happiness is fr yu. I dn’t believe there is ne universal definitin f happiness. Happiness is a very subjective emtin, accrding t me. Put tw peple in identical situatin: same amunt f mney, life experiences, etc. and yu can be pretty sure that they bth wuldn’t feel equally happy r equally sad. I believe this is s because there are tw kinds f happiness. There is ne kind f happiness, which is kind f universal and then there is the ther kind, which is very individual t each ne f us. It is this kind f happiness that I find mre interesting.
The secnd kind f happiness that I talk abut cmes frm ur expectatins ut f ur lives, which vary frm persn t persn. Fr example, a persn wh expects a lt ut f his r her life may find that happiness is hard t find. They are cnstantly in search f these things in life, which always seem t elude (逃避) them. Thse things may be mney r fame r pwer r any f the ther pursuits (追求) that humans have, but it wuld be likely that such peple are less likely t be happy, if their gals are nt met. In mst cases, even after their gals are met, they dn’t find happiness, because they seek mre—new gals, new wish lists, and it’s a seemingly never-ending prcess fr them!
On the ther hand, a persn wh takes life as it cmes alng and makes the best f each day is mre likely t be happy every day. They have n pressure r gals t ccupy their minds and they can achieve happiness frm the simple pleasures f everyday life, finding lve, making time fr the family and kids, seeing their kids grw, etc. Of curse, that desn’t mean that yu shuldn’t have any expectatins at all. Yu shuld keep thse expectatins reasnable and manageable.
41 Which f the fllwing is the authr’s pinin accrding t Paragraph 1?
      A. Happiness has ne universal definitin.

      C. they have new gals that need achieving
      D. they think sadness is a never-ending prcess
      44. What kind f persn is likely t be happy in the authr’s pinin?
      A. He wh has few expectatins.B. He wh has n pressure r gals.

T grw sugary dates in the sand, Siwa’s farmers must first make the desert suitable fr farming. An asis (绿洲) in Egypt, Siwa has been hme t humans fr thusands f years. Since ancient times, the asis has hsted farms prducing sme f the mst valuable dates in Egypt, and sugary dates have appeared n Egyptians, tables.

Hwever, with lcal peple’s effrts, the Siwa asis cntains cmplex agricultural fields, where date trees, crps and ther plants grw in harmny. That impressed me a lt during my visit t the asis. T make a new piece f field, farmers first remve the tp sil and replace it with a mixture f sand and waste matter frm animals. The first plants are medicinal plants. Then, farmers plant date trees and live trees. These farming skills are passed dwn frm generatin t generatin.
T grw date trees is demanding. And it takes 10 years fr a new date tree t mature, but nce it des, the tree prduces generus fruit: arund 110 punds f dates per year. Each farmer picks dates with the skilled hands. They climb the trees using nthing mre than a belt. In ttal, Siwa grws mre than 25,000 tns f dates frm 280,000 trees per year.
The dates can be eaten fresh, r made dry. Every part f the date tree is significant in Siwa, frm leaves made int beds and bxes t wd used t build huses. And then, f curse, there’s the fruit itself. The dates can be cked with gat meat r mixed with eggs fr breakfast. They can als be mixed with flur, water, and live il, and biled slwly t make a lcal dessert.
Lcal farmers nce develped many unique date varieties, which their camels carried t Cair. But later many f thse varieties perished. And tday nly several majr varieties remain and sme have becme quite rare and been at risk. The 1985 cnstructin f a rad in the asis made the survival f lcal agricultural traditin even tugher.
