In the study f mre than 215,000students, researchers frm UniSA fund that while standardized tests measure academic skills, different dimensins f wellbeing—emtinal wellbeing, engagement, and learning readiness—can play a crucial rle in perfrmance.
Specifically, the study fund that learning readiness, which includes fundatinal skills such as perseverance, cnfidence, and engagement, was nt just a desirable utcme, but a catalyst fr academic success.
"When we talk abut learning readiness, we mean hw prepared a child is t learn, nt just academically, but als in their ability t stay fcused, t vercme challenges, and believe in their ability t succeed," says UniSA researcher Dr Rebecca Marrne. "It's abut having gd learning habits, and a mtivatin t learn, which tgether can help them perfrm better at schl."
This study draws n data frm the Suth Australian Wellbeing and Engagement Cllectin(WEC)t assess the impact f student wellbeing and engagement f students in Years 4—10, and their academic achievement in tests between 2016 and 2019. The results shw that schls need t shift twards a mdel that values bth student wellbeing and academic achievement as vital cmpnents f educatin.
UniSA's Benjamin Lam says, "Student learning is cmplex, and it is affected by a range f cntextual and individual differences. When students are mentally and emtinally healthy, they're mre likely t be engaged and mtivated and perfrm better academically. But the relatinship is certainly nt linear(线性的), and we can't infer that lw-achieving students have lw levels f wellbeing, r high-achieving students have high levels f wellbeing."
"This means that schls must lk beynd test scres and take a mre persnal, hlistic(整体的)apprach t supprting students," adds Lam. "They can d this by adpting learner prfiles that include wellbeing and engagement metrics(指标)alngside traditinal grades, s that schls can better understand and respnd t each student's needs."

C.Mre engaged students are emtinally healthier.
D.Schls shuldn't just fcus n traditinal grades.
The places inhabited by many species are shifting due t climate change, and these species are mstly tracked by frmal mnitring plans and surveys. Hwever, these traditinal methds may struggle t spt rapid changes, and smetimes verlk urban areas.
A new study led by the University f Exeter examined psts abut Jersey tiger mths n main scial media. The psts reveal that the mths are unexpectedly cmmn in twns and cities. The findings demnstrate hw scial media can help scientists track animal species as they relcate in respnse t climate change.
"Wildlife surveys tend t be dne in rural areas, s their infrmatin desn't always reflect the vital imprtance f twns and cities," said Nile Stephensn, wh led the study.
Urban parks and gardens prvide diverse habitats where species like the Jersey tiger mth can grw well. By accunting fr biases(偏差)and gaps in the data, researchers have develped a methd that culd be widely used t track many species—especially thse that share urban envirnments.
"Our study shws that plenty f peple in twns and cities are interested in wildlife, which has the ptential t increase cnnectedness t nature," said Stephensn, nw at the University f Cambridge. "We als fund sme peple wh are very interested in wildlife and phtgraphy tend t pst images f a wide range f wildlife they see. This prvides a database that scientists can use."
Stephensn said the public can als help by psting in places such as iNaturalist and iRecrd, as infrmatin frm these is already used in research. The team highlighted limitatins f using scial media, saying it can nly be used t cmplement—nt replace—traditinal mnitring.
"Because scial media is s subject t trends, we wuld expect t see bias, such as mre sightings f species that are being widely talked abut," said Stephensn. "Hwever, we can turn that int a psitive. Fr example, we culd imprve mnitring f invasive(入侵的)species by making trends arund recrding sightings."
12.What can be learned abut traditinal animal species mnitring?
A.It has sme limitatins.B.It isn't backed by science.

A.It's tugh t mnitr invasive species.B.Scial media shuld be prperly used.
C.Traditinal mnitring is irreplaceable.D.He is ppsed t emplying scial media.
15.What is the main idea f the text?
