(A)21.Hw much might a 71-year-ld man with tw children under 44 inches tall pay fr a
      lcal bus trip?
      A.$1.45. B.$2.9. C.$5.8. D.$7.
根据文中“Subway and bus fares”部分的内容,“Reduced fares fr
riders wh are 65 r lder and peple with qualifying disabilities are half the price.”
又因为“Up t three
children under 44 inches tall ride fr free when accmpanied by a fare-paying adult.”,即由付费
(C)22.Which train trip will be charged at peak fares?
A.A weekday train leaving Grand Central Statin at 6 p.m.
B.A weekend train leaving Grand Central statin at 9 a.m.
C.A weekday train leaving New Yrk City terminals at 6 p.m.
D.A weekend train leaving New Yrk City terminals at 9 a.m.
Railrads: LIRR (Lng Island Rail Rad) and Metr-Nrth
fares”部分中的“Peak fares are charged during weekday rush hurs n trains scheduled t arrive
in New Yrk City terminals between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. r depart New Yrk City terminals
between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. On Metr-Nrth, peak fares als apply t weekday trains that leave
      Grand Central between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.”
(C)23.What's the simplest way t buy LIRR and Metr-Nrth tickets?
      A.Using the fare tables.
B.Signing up fr a special accunt.
      C.Using a specific app n yur phne.
D.Paying with a cntactless card at the statin.
Railrads: LIRR (Lng Island Rail Rad) and Metr-Nrth
fares”部分的最后一句“The easiest way t buy tickets is with the TrainTime app n yur phne.”
      B
After serving in America's armed frces, Stanfrd's student- veterans(老 兵 ) shifted their

the animals is a rewarding prcess that's helped all f them find cmmunity and purpse as they've
shifted frm military life t academia.
Walters first met Frankie, a glden retriever(金毛猎犬), when he was just a puppy, small
enugh t hld in his hand. At the time, Walters was recvering frm knee surgery and was n
crutches(拐杖) and painkillers, but still managed t teach Frankie simple tasks, such as training him
t pen drs and pick up bjects, and even teaching him hw t identify bdy language that
indicates anxiety and depressin—feelings cmmn t veterans wh have experienced trauma.
“As much fun as it is t basically play with a dg and have it cunt as public service, it's als
a sbering(发人深省的) reminder that Frankie is preparing t jin a final veteran with limited
mbility, pssibly battling cmbat trauma r mental illness,” Walters said.
Warrir

【解析】根据第二段第一句中“student veterans vlunteer t train dgs t be service
cmpanins fr ther veterans living with mbility r cgnitive(认知的) challenges(退伍军人学生
(D)25.Which skill is NOT taught t the dgs?
A.Staying cncentrated within a time perid.
B.Getting back specific items fr veterans.
      C.Detecting signs f emtinal discmfrt.
      D.Barking t warn veterans f dangers.
      【解析】第二段提到训练内容包括“staying still and calm”(类似于 A 选项)、“fcus n ne
      persn at a time”(对应 A 选项);第三段提到“fetch bjects”(对应 B 选项)、“recgnize signs f
(B)26.Hw des Walters feel abut training the dgs?
A.Demanding and stressful. B.Challenging but rewarding.
C.Cmfrting and effrtless. D.Meaningful but rutine.
(A)27.What is the best title fr the passage?
      A.Paws f Purpse B.Erasing Battle Trauma
      C.True Battlefield Heres D.Frm War t Studies
故选 A。
      C
LignSat, the wrld's first satellite made mstly frm wd, reached the Internatinal Space
Statin(ISS) abard a SpaceX carg capsule n Nvember 5, 2024. The palm- sized satellite,
named after the Latin wrd fr “wd”, will be launched frm the ISS int Earth's rbit later this
mnth. Its missin is t determine if wd can resist the harsh cnditins f space. If successful,
LignSat culd pave the way fr mre envirnmentally friendly spacecraft designs.
The LignSat Space Wd Prject is led by Japan's Kyt University. The researchers began
by sending a small panel cntaining three different wd samples t the ISS in 2022. The panel was
expsed t space fr ten mnths befre being returned t Earth in early 2023. After analyzing the
results, the team picked wd frm magnlia trees fr the satellite.
“Nbdy had ever thught abut using wd fr rcket science befre,” said Prfessr Kji
Murata f Kyt University.“Many engineers thught wd was ld technlgy and culdn't be
      applied t cutting-edge technlgy.”
The main reasn fr testing a wden satellite is t reduce space junk. Current satellites are
primarily made f aluminum. The metal reacts with xygen when the satellites burn up in Earth's
atmsphere at the end f their life cycle. This prcess releases aluminum xide particles(微粒),
ptentially damaging the zne(臭氧) layer. Wden satellites, which leave behind nly water and
carbn dixide, culd help ease this issue.
“All the satellites that re-enter the Earth's atmsphere burn and create tiny alumina particles,
which will flat in the upper atmsphere fr many years,” said Taka Di, an aerspace engineer.
“Eventually, it will affect the envirnment f the Earth.”
Researchers als see a future where trees culd be grwn n the Mn and Mars. Successfully
testing a wden satellite will demnstrate that wd can stand up t harsh space cnditins.
LignSat will rbit the Earth fr six mnths, gathering valuable data befre burning up in the
atmsphere. Murata and his team aim t use this infrmatin t design larger and mre advanced
      wden satellites and devices.
(B)28.What is the main task f the LignSat satellite?
A.T prvide supplies fr the ISS.
B.T determine the endurance f the wd in space.
C.T test the circling capability f wden satellites.
D.T cnfirm the size f the wden satellite in space.
Its missin is t determine if wd can resist the harsh
      cnditins f space.”
(A)29.Which decisin was made based n experimental results?
A.Selecting magnlia wd as the satellite material.
B.Sending different wd samples int space.
C.Deciding the expsure time f the trial panel.
D.Cperating with Kyt University n the prject.
【解析】根据第二段中的“sending a small panel cntaining three different wd samples t
After analyzing... wd frm magnlia trees fr the
      satellite.”
故选 A。
(B)30.What is the main envirnmental advantage f wden satellites?
A.They can be repurpsed thrugh recycling.
B.They will nt release aluminum xide particles.
C.They can cntrl the amunt f space waste verall.
D.They can be btained as building materials in space.
ptentially damaging the zne(臭氧) layer... culd help ease this issue.”
(D)31.What is the authr's purpse in writing the article?
A.T describe the prcess f making the LignSat satellite.
B.T discuss the ptential envirnmental impact f wden satellites.
C.T cmpare the features f wden satellites and aluminum satellites.
D.T illustrate the practicality and meaning f using wden satellites.

In the early 1900s, French chemist, Eduard Benedictus, invented shatterprf(防碎的) glass
by chance. But its significance and relevance didn't emerge until the car market created the prblem
fr which he had already fund the answer.
Such mments f serendipity reveal the unpredictable nature f innvatin. Yet, even in cases
where chance plays a rle, as in Benedictus's stry, the brader questin remains: Are such
discveries truly brn f luck, r were they smehw “in the air”, waiting fr the right persn t

Sme argue all the discveries wuld have been made by ther peple. They believe if the
time was ripe in cnceptual and technlgical terms, smene wuld have gt there sner r later.
This is the used and abused understanding f theries that were“in the air”. Independently, Charles
Darwin and Alfred R. Wallace(the latter 15 years behind Darwin) reached the thery f evlutin
by natural selectin, bth cunting n similar data. Despite slight differences in the thery, the
cincidences(巧 合 ) f thught were astnishing. This phenmenn, als existing in bilgical

adaptatins. This ccurs because the envirnment pses similar survival prblems t bth, namely
similar selective pressures. This is an imprtant clue that can help explain why this dynamic als
exists in scientific knwledge: There are similar selective pressures and different research grups
      cmpeting t prpse the slutins.
Analyzing the steps undertaken that led t the result, we can see there were accidental
elements. The verall dynamic was nt accidental, thugh. Yet is it pssible that all discveries
      were in the air?
Assume this is true and that the mst luck can d is speed up the unavidable. All scientists
are standing n the shulders f the giants wh have gne befre them, and there is bjectively an
accumulative element in science. Nevertheless, at sme pint and in the right circumstances, it was
the unknwn scientists, nt the giants, wh managed t see farther. The mind f the giant was
imprisned by prir knwledge and s trapped within the framewrk f established habits, research
questins, and established methds, while the new, little- knwn scientist will in ne way r

called cnvergence”以 及 “There are similar selective pressures and different research grups
(B)34.What advantage might lesser-knwn scientists have ver established researchers?
A.Access t advanced tls. B.Freedm frm rigid mindsets.
C.Strnger peer cperatin. D.Greater funding pprtunities.

      Text 10
W: In this week's lecture, I'd like t talk abut the increasing risks f playing vide games fr
t lng. This past week in New Yrk, fr example, a fifteen-year-ld by passed ut after
playing Call f Duty Mdern Warfare. Three r five days straight, the teen was rushed t the
hspital where they fund ut he hadn't been drinking water fr days. He recvered, but there are
sme peple wh haven't been s lucky. Fr instance, in July a Taiwanese teenager was fund dead
after sitting fr frty hurs in an Internet cafe playing the game Diabl Ⅲ. Dctrs believe he died
frm a heart attack that was caused by the lng sessin. And last summer a twenty-year-ld man
frm the UK died frm a bld clt after playing many twelve-hur games n his Xbx. His
father said that his sn lived fr his Xbx and he never dreamed there was any danger. While we
knw these are extreme cases, they are a reminder that sitting at a cmputer r in frnt f a TV
screen fr days, whether it's fr a cmputer game r fr wrk, isn't healthy fr anyne.
Unfrtunately, sme dctrs will make the prblem seem small. Thse f us at the medical
university research center knw that this kind f behavir carries great health risks.
