She started by psting n scial media, asking peple in her area t dnate. “I was expecting maybe tw r three respnses frm neighbrs,” she says. “But it ended up blwing up,” especially when news statins began reprting it. The public respnse has been super great.
Bhatnagar cntinues t run the bk drive and hpes t ne day expand the prject t reach mre kids. The memry f the first time she visited children wh’ d received her bks sticks with her. “It was the best day f my life,” she says. “I realized I wanted t d this type f wrk frever.”

Traditinal micr-rbts ften face limitatins due t their pwer surces, but recently develped insect-sized rbt pwered by tiny explsins(爆 炸 ) has demnstrated the ability t climb, jump, and carry lads many times its wn weight.
The rbt, mainly develped by materials engineer Rbert Shepherd at Crnell University in New Yrk, alng with his PhD student Camern Aubin, is pwered by tiny actuatrs(致动器). “The actuatr lks like a clumn. It's an empty cylinder with a stretchy rubber n the tp,” said Aubin.
The researchers emplyed fur actuatrs t drive the rbt's feet. T make the rbt jump r climb, a stream f methane(甲 烷 ) and xygen was fed int each ft and sparked (触 发 ) with electricity frm a battery. The resulting reactin between the gases released energy as a small explsin, causing the rubber t change its frm.
Shepherd nted that the rapid explsins were s tiny that they didn't damage the rubber. But
they prvided cnsiderable prpulsin: the rbt culd jump t a height f 56 centimeters and carry a lad 22 times its wn weight.
“This team has brught chemically pwered actuatin t impressive ranges fr rbtics while als demnstrating impressive capabilities fr insect-size machines,” said Ryan Truby, a materials scientist at Nrthwestern University in Illinis.
Rbts that are small and light but strng and able t cver large distances culd ne day be used in envirnmental mnitring r search-and-rescue applicatins. And the rbt built by Aubin and Shepherd, described in a paper published in Science, wuld need further develpment fr use in
the field. “At the mment, it needs t be cnnected t a panel that cntains the gas supply and a
battery, a limitatin that presents a challenge. Cming up with ways t burn fuels n a wireless rbt is nt easy,” said Truby. “This is the next big challenge t address.”
      28. Why des the recently develped insect-sized rbt stand ut?
      A. It is extremely tiny and light. B. It is equipped with a clumn.
      C. It is extremely swift and quick. D. It is driven by explsive frce.
      29. What happens when the methane and xygen is sparked?
      A. The reactin creates a mixture f gas t drive the rbt.
      B. The reactin generates heat that is changed int mvement.
      C. The reactin transfrms a stretchy rubber t drive the rbt.
      D. The reactin prvides electricity that is changed int mvement.
      30. What des “prpulsin” in paragraph 4 prbably mean?
      A. Ability t mve. B. Pssibility t develp.
      C. Frce t push things. D. Electricity t spark gases.
      31. Hw can Aubin and Shepherd make advancement t the rbt they built?
      A. They can use mre actuatrs t prvide larger pwer.
      B. They can design prgrams t cntrl the rbt efficiently.
      C. They can wrk n methds t t enable energy prductin wirelessly.
      D. They can cnnect the rbt t a panel cntaining gas supply and a battery.

It was cl and bright and just right fr running. I was in the first few miles f a 10-mile race thrugh sme hills. Birds were singing n the trees. The sft wind was brushing my cheeks. I felt rested and springy. Despite the hills, I thught it was ging t be a fine run.
Ahead was Blake, a student frm Burke High Schl. He was running easily, t, mving alng efficiently. The pace felt cmfrtable, s I decided t stay where he was; why bther cncentrating n pace when Blake was such a nice pacesetter fr me? I wuld vertake Blake later n when he used up energy.
S I ran clsely behind him. The curse headed nrth fr five miles, wandered west fr a mile, and then turned suth again. The race was getting tugher. With three miles t g, it was beginning t be real hard wrk. My lungs were n fire, and legs felt like stne.
Blake vertk the by in frnt f him. Apparently he knew the by, fr they exchanged a few wrds. Their brief cmmunicatin wrried me. Runners dn't chat during a race unless they feel really gd, and Blake plainly was. There was still a nticeable bunce in his steps, but the springiness I had nce pssessed was gne.
Still, I was clse enugh t vertake Blake if he was tired, s I didn't give up hpe cmpletely. We were appraching a hill, a mile frm the finish line, s whatever happened n the hill wuld almst certainly determine wh crssed it first.
As I mved up the hill, my attentin wandered fr a few minutes. When I lked up, Blake was mving away, first five yards, then ten, then mre. There was n hpe f catching Blake.
