My greatest regret in life is that I failed t tell my superb teachers hw much they cntributed t my early educatin.
Ruth Hammerman taught English t the eighth-graders. She was the first t shw me the rules f what Evelyn Waugh called ur “rich and delicate language.” She was a n-nnsense instructr.
