Then they did a series f mlecular（分子的）analyses t identify what specifically abut hair grease might prevent ice frm frming. They fund high levels f certain cmpunds in the grease that are especially resistant t freezing, specifically because ice has a harder time sticking t them. Meanwhile, the team fund plar bear fur als lacked a cmpund called squalene, which is abundant in ther marine mammals, and has prperties that make ice stick t it easily. “This cmbinatin makes plar bear fur highly resistant t freezing,” says Hlst.
