I had a quick meal and wrte dwn sme vilin exercises. After a lng time f such effrts, I finally
managed t save enugh mney. As my family’s financial situatin had imprved and they n
lnger required my financial supprt, I resigned frm my psitin. The mment I left, I felt as if I
had been released frm prisn, and sn I set sail fr Eurpe t pursue my dream.
The fur-year study in Eurpe was beynd amazing. Thugh I wrked mre diligently than I
culd have ever imagined, every single mment was a surce f jy. “Enjyed” is far t mild a
wrd t describe my feelings; I was truly n clud nine. Fr the first time, I felt that I was truly
living, engaged in what I lved and was meant t d.
If I had remained in business, perhaps I wuld be a relatively wealthy persn tday.
Nevertheless, I firmly believe that I wuld nt have achieved a truly successful life. I wuld have
given up all thse intangible rewards, thse inner satisfactins that mney can never purchase, and
that are ften sacrificed when ne’s main pursuit is financial success.
Quitting my jb went against the advice f nearly all my friends and family. We are s
cnditined t link success with mney that the idea f giving up a well-paid jb fr a dream
seemed almst crazy. If s, all I can say is “Gee, it’s great t be crazy.”
Mney is a wnderful thing, but it’s pssible t pay t high a price fr it.

The glbal success f Chinese apps like TikTk, RedNte (Xiahngshu), and AI mdels like
DeepSeek highlights a surprising trend: China is gaining cultural influence amng yung
Americans, nt just in technlgy but als in creating appealing nline experiences.
China’s internet actually is cl. Chinese prducts and services have an increasing riginality,
especially Chinese apps, which stand ut fr their creativity. TikTk, used by ver half f
Americans, ffers engaging cntent that feels mre dynamic than U.S. platfrms. Its mix f humr,
creativity, and slight rebelliusness (叛逆) attracts teens seeking freedm frm traditinal nrms.
TikTk was briefly shut dwn earlier this mnth, and the site faces an uncertain legal future. Many
yung users turned t RedNte, a Chinese lifestyle app filled with dd cntent like fashin tips and
cking instructins. Thugh unfamiliar t lder generatins, its mix f Chinese culture and glbal
yuth trends creates a unique appeal.
As fr the AI large-language mdels, DeepSeek, an AI mdel develped by a Chinese
cmpany, is a miracle, which cmbines technical skill with playful persnality. Unlike rigid
Western mdels, it writes creatively --- even reimagining classic literature frm an AI perspective.
Its rise t the tp f Apple’s app stre shws hw innvatin and affrdability can win ver users.
The decline f Eurpe’s cultural appeal gives rise t the trend. In the past, American teens
admired Eurpean sphisticatin (精 明 ), but tday’s yuth seek fresh alternatives. With its
ecnmic pwer and glbal reach, China naturally fills this gap. Additinally, yung peple ften
reject their parents’ preferences, and China’s tech-driven culture feels extremely new.
While relatinship dminates headlines, rdinary interactins tell a different stry.
On RedNte, American and Chinese users bnd ver shared interests like cking r fashin.
DeepSeek’s fair answers n American tpics build trust. These cnnectins prve cultural gaps
aren’t unbridgeable.
5
Actually, China’s tech success isn’t just abut hardware r data --- it’s abut creating prducts
that resnate (共鸣) emtinally. Fr American yuth seeking nvelty, China’s internet culture
ffers smething refreshingly different. This cultural shift, paired with technlgical advances,
psitins China as a unique party in shaping glbal trends.
28. Why are yung Americans drawn t TikTk?
A. They shw deeper interest in Chinese culture.
B. They eagerly want t catch up with the fashin.

D. Few users take price int cnsideratin when cnsidering apps.

A. Hw Did China’s Internet Becme S Cl?
B. China Is Shaping The Cultural Shift Glbally.
C. Why Did RedNte Take The Place Of TikTk?
D. The Facts Behind The Ppularity Of Deepseek.

My late mther was an artist f sme renwn in the Pacific Nrthwest. Over her many-decades
career, her paintings evlved frm highly representatinal waterclrs int mixed-media abstracts.
Grwing up, I culd draw a little myself and enjyed ding s, but I never had her talent. Once, I
asked her hw I culd imprve. I suppsed I expected her t say smething like “Practice 10,000
hurs.” Instead, she tld me t lk at what I wanted t draw. I stared at a tree, nticing details I’d
ignred befre: the rugh bark, shifting shadws, and delicate leaves. Drawing each detail carefully,
I created my best wrk yet. Mre imprtantly, I discvered the jy f truly bserving the wrld.
This act f deep attentin is called savring --- a skill that enriches bth art and life.
6
Psychlgists define it as “fully appreciating psitive mments,” like enjying a sunset r reliving
happy memries. Studies shw savring activates the brain’s reward system, reduces sadness, and
bsts happiness. In experiments, peple wh fcused n daily psitive experiences became
happier, especially thse with fewer gd mments. Savring als creates vivid, lasting memries
f jy.
Yet humans naturally fcus n negatives --- a survival instinct frm ancestrs wh needed t
avid dangers. Tday, this “negativity bias (偏见)” ften backfires, making us trapped in prblems
and verlk gd mments. Scientists warn that cnstant negativity twists thinking and lwers life
satisfactin.
The slutin? Practice savring. Start with psitive mments: pause t enjy a meal r a friend’
s laugh. But challenges can als be savred. Try a “failure jurnal”: write dwn a setback (e.g., an
argument), leave space, then return weeks later t nte lessns learned (“I imprved
cmmunicatin”). Mnths later, add psitive utcmes (“We grew clser”). This invlves savring
--- and shws hw yu can use the practice t transfrm even unwelcme experiences int psitive
pprtunities fr grwth and perspective. This reframing helps find meaning in difficulties, much
like finding beauty in an imperfect drawing.
My mther’s advice wasn’t just abut art --- it was abut living. By bserving deeply, we
uncver hidden layers in bth the rdinary and the difficult. Savring turns fleeting mments int
lasting jy and challenges int grwth. That’s the true art f life.
32. What des the authr fcus n by the persnal stry?
A. Observing the wrld is essential fr a painting.
B. Every detail deserves attentin when drawing.
C. Deep attentin is a surce f living a happy life.
D. Savring is a skill f truly bserving the wrld.
33. What des the authr imply abut “negativity bias” in mdern life?
A. It is necessary fr survival tday. B. It reduces ur ability t enjy life.
C. It helps us avid dangers effectively. D. It imprves peple’s life satisfactin.
34. Accrding t the text, what is a “failure jurnal” used fr?
A. Reflecting n setbacks t find psitive results.
B. Tracking mistakes t avid errrs in the future.
C. Recrding psitive mments and the emtins.
D. Keeping track f the interpersnal relatinships.
35. Why des the authr cmpare “savring” t “finding beauty in an imperfect drawing”?
7
A. T explain that art invlves accepting flaws.
B. T criticize peple wh fcus n negativity.
C. T shw challenges can be changed int grwth.
D. T argue that art is mre imprtant than science.

Amng the many health preservatin cncepts, fr Chinese peple, an idea is 57 we
shuld “wear mre in spring and freeze slightly in autumn”. Accrding t traditinal Chinese
medicine thery, in spring, the temperature is 57 (change) and it’s just getting warm. The
yang qi in the human bdy starts t grw but is still relatively fragile. At this time, “wearing mre”
can prevent cld frm invading the bdy’s yang qi, 58 (avid) diseases such as jint pain.
This is because the human bdy needs a prcess t adapt t 59 (warm). Apprpriately
keeping warm in spring can 60 (strength) the yang qi, enhance the bdy’s resistance, and

When autumn cmes, freezing slightly allws the bdy t gradually adapt t the cld and

Versin 2
Dear Mr Green,
I'm Li Hua, a high schl student with a keen interest in ur English website. I am writing t
prpse the additin f a new clumn.
I believe that adding a new clumn called “Travel” wuld be beneficial fr the fllwing
reasns. Firstly, as ne f the mst ppular ways t relax, travelling has always been attractive,
never failing t appeal t readers. Additinally, due t ur busy studies, we may nt have access t
well-knwn scenic spts. Fr this reasn, “Travel” will prve a perfect additin. Last but nt least,
nt nly will it help us refresh urselves, but it will als increase ur sense f natinal pride.
I hpe yu find my suggestin acceptable.
Yurs,
Li Hua

grund. He quickly ran ver and asked what was wrng. His grandfather, in a faint vice,
uttered, “Blue bttle... find the blue bttle...” Peter immediately drpped t his knees and
started frantically searching the flr. At that mment, he was filled with regret fr nt
tidying up the mess he made when he kncked ver the first-aid kit.
Finally, after a desperate search, Peter sptted the small blue bttle hidden under the sfa.
He rushed ver, reached ut t grab the bttle and handed it t his grandfather, tears welling
up his eyes and his vice trembling as he aplgized, “Grandpa, I’m srry!” His grandfather,
after taking the medicine, gently patted Peter n the shulder and said, “Thank Gd yu’ve
cme hme in time and find the life-saving medicine fr me.” Realizing Grandpa was ut f
danger, Peter felt a mixed surge f guilt and cmfrt verwhelming him, and at this mment,
he realized the imprtance f being punctual and staying rganized.
