      This week I visited Cambdia, and it culd nt have cme at a “htter” time, in the mst literal sense f the wrd, because the temperatures in Siem Reap were almst 7°C abve average. The night befre, it rained in a few areas, and I culd see the excitement arund me with many calling their families t say, “It rained in my village!” But this sadly seemed t be an exceptin. In mst areas f the cuntry, farmers have been unable t plant the secnd rice crp, leading t ecnmic hardship.
      As I made my way, in the sweltering heat, t visit a secndary schl in the rural area in Siem Reap. As I walked frm classrm t classrm, I wndered hw learning utcmes must be impacted by the heat waves, and what wuld happen t the ability f children t learn, t play and t prgress in schl.
      But what made me excited was learning abut the after-schl prgramme n handling envirnmental challenges. As temperatures are rising, s are children rising t the ccasin. Thrugh the life skills training prgramme, students in Grade 9, learn t analyse prblems, learn t wrk tgether, learn t find slutins. The prgramme als helps them t understand the envirnmental challenges f tday’s wrld and hw as yung peple they can be part f the slutin.
      In the afternn, I went t see the impact f their wrk in the field. We had lunch with the cmmunity leaders and yuth vlunteers as well as a 12-year-ld student frm the schl. They shwed me what they had dne in terms f waste management. The village was clean and green. And the cmmunity leader said t me, “I am grateful fr this prgramme.”

      Accrding t the test, the accuracy f the system, trained and tested n 40 gats s far,was 62% t 80% at identifying pained faces. With data n mre gats and ther animal species, these kinds f AI mdels may help dctrs treat pain effectively in patients they can’t speak with.
      "It’s nt just an animal-welfare issue,” Chiavaccini said. "We als knw animals that are in pain dn’t gain weight. Farmers are becming mre and mre aware f the need t cntrl pain in animals. ” Pain assessment in animals has histrically been bth difficult and subjective (主观的).
