Yu knw that ld debate abut whether dgs are smarter than cats? Well, science nw has a definite answer. It’s dgs. That’s the cnclusin f an internatinal grup f researchers, wh fund that dgs have twice as many neurns (神经元) as cats. Neurns are cells that deal with infrmatin. And s, the mre neurns an animal has, the better its infrmatin prcessing capability, these scientists say.
The study was carried ut by researchers frm six universities in the US, Brazil, Denmark and Suth Africa. It’s ging t be published in the jurnal Frntiers in Neuranatmy. The research was dne in the lab f Suzana Herculan-Huzel, an assciate prfessr f psychlgy and bilgical sciences at Vanderbilt University.

What the researchers did was take sme brain matter and basically turn it int a sup. This freed up the cell nuclei (细胞核) s that the scientists culd cunt them directly under a micrscpe.
This is what they fund when they lked at the cerebral crtex f cats and dgs. The cerebral crtex is the part f the brain that prcesses infrmatin. A cat’s cerebral crtex has 250 millin neurns. A 15-pund mixed-breed (混合种) dg’s has 429 millin.
When they lked at a 64-pund glden retriever (猎犬), the number was even higher: 627 millin neurns. “S, it’s plausible t say that dgs have abut twice as many neurns as cats in their cerebral crtex,” she said. “And this means that dgs can d mre thinking things than cats.”

If yur child is yung, singing can be an excellent way t teach them unfamiliar wrds and phrases. These shrt-term memry exercises are repeated t turn the learned language int lng-term memry.

There are small differences in spken language that can greatly impact the ability t read in yung children.
