The fertile land f the Nile delta is being erded (侵蚀) alng the Mediterranean cast f Egypt at an astnishing rate, in sme parts estimated at 100 metres per year. Nw, hwever, there turns ut t be mre t the stry. It appears that the sedimentfree water picks up sand as it erdes the river bed and banks n the 800kilmetre trip t Cair.
